I did it!! 325's on the rear of the 65 dart(barely)

Thanks for the feedback. My rims are 15x10, 5" backspace. My 8.75 is out of a C body. I had the housing cut, and the axles cut and re-splined. It is still the reliable as heck Slant-6. I wanted to get the brakes and subframe connectors, etc done before I started the engine swap. Thanks...

I did it!! 325's on the rear of the 65 dart(barely)

Great work on your car. When considering tire size, you need to keep in mind that a 315 tire is not necessarily smaller in the ways you are hoping. When I was doing this to my car, I created the chart below. As you can see, on a 15" tire (BFG ET Street Radial) the 315 is almost 2 inches taller...

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Thanks for the feedback, it would be cool to do a straight axle awb car someday. I am almost positive the paint is PP-1 Red (DT-3180/71203). Thanks, OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Thank you Very Much! I really appreciate the compliment! This phase of the project took way too long... I am looking forward to actually driving the thing, I started getting tired of looking at it in pieces. Thanks again! OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Thanks! I am not sure how much over stock, as the leaf springs I took out were 48 years old and sagging. You should be able to adjust the leaf springs by flipping the spring hangers, which should get you close. I hope this helps. OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

This tire requires a lot "fine tuning" in an Early A. With the width of my axle, I could have gone with .25 to .5 more backspacing...it is really close. I probably have .75 of clearance on the frame side, and .50 on the fender side. A lot of people go with the 325x50x15 which is approx 2...

...another comment like that and we are turning this car around and going back home :rr: Yea, I will not get any awards for being the fastest mechanic around...Thank God this is not my day job. OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Thanks for the inquiry. I drove it on the Sunday after the Fling. It is awesome to drive it again after a few years of being torn down. I did the swap to LBP in the front, then tore down the rear to match. I have to bleed the brakes once again, then put on a temporary muffler so I can drive it...

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Hey Mike, Thanks for checking in. I am finalizing plans for the 440 that will be transplanted in. I have an old set of Jardine Early A RB headers that I will be running. I am looking for a BB727 transmission, then measuring for the driveshaft. In the back of my mind, I am hoping to drive it to...

Update on My 64 Dart project

It looks to me like the tabs are meant to keep the tank in place, while their thought was that the wheel well would support the weight of the tank. Does the tank sit on the bottom of the Wheel well? From the pictures, it looks like it does not sit flush with the bottom of the wheel well, and it...

1965 Dodge Dart GT Exterior Color

This might help you. http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/paint65.html Some of the same colors were used in 1964, here is a sample sheet with the paint codes: http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/images/dodgepaint64_1.jpg Also, here is a table I found with some more paint codes...

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Thanks for the feedback. It definitely sits up in the back, like my car in high school with the hi-jackers air shocks...8) I am excited to see how yours looks also. I will keep an eye out for pics. Thanks, OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Hey Guys, My dad and I spent the better part of the weekend trying to get closer to finishing this project. We welded on the spring perches at -4 degrees of pinion angle. We added the 3.91 gears. The axle is finally in the car...hopefully I can leave it in for a while this time... Here are...

    440 In a 66 Dart GT

Yes, please, I definitely want to see the pics of the holes once the fab work is done. I understand wanting to switch the trans mount. Do you think you had to move the shock location because the headers are for 67 and up? I have a set of Jardines for an early A, so I am hoping I will not have to...

    440 In a 66 Dart GT

How much will the motor realistically move? I see the motor plate, and the solid trans mount...but I am curious if you could put more metal back around the headers? This looks awesome. Once I finish the mini-tub job, I am on to the motor. I have 2 360's...but I REALLY want to drop one of my...

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Thanks for the response...I was thinking about -4 to -6...somewhere in that range. You confirmed what I have been considering. I have been watching your threads, your car runs awesome! BTW, your pace in building your car has been incredible. Great work! Thanks, OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

So, I worked on it for a while again this afternoon. It is once again on its 4 feet again. I think it has been almost a year on jackstands...WOW! I also purchased a third member with 3.91 gears that will be going in the axle after doing the finish welding. Any hints on setting the pinion...

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

I did the same thing, but I installed my green bearings and 3" studs myself. I think I paid $350. BTW, for future reference, let someone else install the bearings if you can...what a hassle cutting the old ones off. Thanks, OldMoparsRule!

315x60x15's on my 64 Dart GT

Hi Mike, I worked on it for a while this evening. It is finally back on all 4 wheels again. I need to do the final measurements so I can set the pinion angle, then off again so I can do the finish welds and paint, etc. Then...I can finally put the rear axle in for good. The old lady I...

    WIW 64 Dart GT conv.

I think it sounds close to being fairly priced. It is a convertible...to me, that makes it more valuable that the same thing in a hardtop. The 273 is a bonus. It is all about what you like, what your wife likes...and the vision you have of what it will look like when it is done....and MOST...

    Curious - What is a 1966 Dart 270 worth?

My all original 66 Dart 270 (273, auto) sold on Barrett Jackson for around $13,500. The paint and interior ware almost perfect, and it had 87000 original miles. I sold it for a lot less to the guy who took it to BJ. Too bad he sold it as a one owner car...I was the second owner, and he would...
