    Best Stock BB Heads?

to clarify, most 906 heads flow same at .500 lift, in the midrange, is where the difference is. the R has a straight line from zero to .500. the F and the C have a hump in the midlift. this is where the valve spends most of it's time. just food for thought. mopar stated , more flow in midlift...

Rotating torque for a new build?

I didn't say you can throw narrow rings in wide, grooves, I know you need spacers,, the fact is metric rings are lower tension, make more power, better fuel milage, and last longer!!!! apparently, you use shuck n jive cast rings. good rings cost more. then it's up to the owner, if he wants good...

Rotating torque for a new build?

narrow rings will lower rotation torque a lot. on street motors, we shoot for 15 # , race motors , 5 #. they do not use oil!!! your newer motors all use metric rings, which are lot narrower, try 1.2 MM , 1.5 MM and 3 or 4 MM oil rings. just food for thought.

Rotating torque for a new build?

a lower tension oil ring would lower it to 10 #, way better, just food for thought.

    Big Block Dart Cooling

I looked in a factory service book, all engines in 1968, had 180 T stats. why put a higher one in where its hotter out?? that lets engine get hotter sooner. also, you have way too much timing!!! usually put hotter T sats in when its colder out.

    Big Block Dart Cooling

what control box are you using? mopar or msd?
  15. P

    Big Block Dart Cooling

if it surges at light throttle, either it's lean or too much timing!!!!. metering rods with smaller middle diameters might help that? why do you want to install higher t-stat?

    cylinder head id

hi, the intake port on 516 head is 184 cc, way small!! other heads, 906, 452, 346 etc are 203 cc, also, they out flow the 516 head, by a lot!!

    Pushrod cup ends turning blue

hi I use 10-30 oil usually. I oil the shafts, pushrod ends, , etc. prime the oil system run it. so far in 38 years in my 340, never had a galling problem on shafts. once engine fires, its pumping oil up there . you can rotate if you like, its a personal preference. also, I wouldn't run hollow...

    Pushrod cup ends turning blue

hi, did you moly lube pushrods also? I never use grease in an engine. if you moly lubed the rockers, then oil can't get out to rockers and pushrods. I seen a hemi, engine did same and cooked 4 sets of pushrods.

my hemi keeps eating its lifters..

hi, I think you need to find out cam specs and spring pressures. also, how do you adjust the lifters?? how much preload or lash?? best method for setting hyd lifters is on base circle at top dead center firing. also, is cam hyd or solid lifter style?? you have to know what you have to solve...

    361 engine specs

hi, the 361 and the 383 are very good motors. a 361 can be made to run good. they like the same cam, intakes, carbs. the early 361 could be bored out to 383 size. not sure about 65 year. egge sells pistons for 361 mopars. the rings are same size as a (gasp) 400 chev 4.125. bearings are same as...

    440 Head and cam question

the 906 head will flow a lot better than a 516 head. you can cut the head surface .025 ,will help with comp. a motor is an air pump, more air in= more power. as for duration, mopar states stay under 280 advertised duration. look at your 906 head, under side is casting number, next to it is a...
