    /6 overheating need help.

OK, Just so I've got the chain of events down: When you bought the car you installed new radiator? or was the radiator in there already? You installed an electric fan shortly there after and all was good for a while. Fast forward 2 years.... You fixed the A/C and now it overheats? is that...

    /6 overheating need help.

That IS pretty odd. Usually running hot at speed is a flow problem. What changed and when? New radiator, electric fan, new temp gauge all at the same time? Is the new gauge reading correctly? Have you verified with a meat thermometer or cross referenced reading with the factory gauge? Does...

    Electric cooling fan

I had the taurus fan when I had the slant and had to "clearance" the webbing in the back of the fan, looked like crap but works like a dream. It fits fine with the mag motors serp setup. One thing is that if you're going to use the high speed, you'll need an 80amp relay. They can be found at...

    which electric fan will fit?

I've used the Taurus fan on the slant and now the 360 magnum motor. I had to remove some of the webbing to clear the slant water pump, but it clears nicely on the v8 mag, even with the serpentine setup. The one thing about the fan I don't like is the shroud. It doesn't seem to fit very well no...

    Overheating dilemma....need input.

Is there any flow at the radiator neck with the cap off? Are the hoses for the heater core hot? If not I think the pump is broken. The burning belt being thrown off leads me to believe that the shaft broke or something bound up the pump for a second. hmm, this is an odd one. If we're only...

    electric cooling fan temp switch???

Does it need to be adjustable? Sounds like you need a thermo fan switch if it doesn't need to be adjustable. Those are available in all kinds of temp ranges and NO/NC configurations. Some even come with dual range operation...

    electric cooling fan temp switch???

I've been running one like this for 5-6 years. Pretty cheap Amazon.com: JEGS Performance Products 52125 Adjustable Fan Temperature Switch: Automotive Maradyne MFA110 is $25 and the Hayden Automotive 3653 is $16.38 on Amazon.

Fan Blade elimination on slant 6

If you have the solid mount fan, there are benefits from switching to an electric fan. Quicker throttle response, quicker warm up, and less drag on the engine at hwy speeds. Find a dual fan setup out a salvage yard. Just make sure the shroud fits your radiator or modify it to fit. You'll also...

    cool heater

Mine did the same thing. I ended up having a number of issues. 1. Heater control valve was nothing more than a vacuum leak. Replaced with a manual valve as I'm in FL and only need the heat about 2 days a year. 2. Heater core was slightly plugged. Flushed with garden hose that I hose...

    C&R Explains Adv Cooling

I'm curious about this comment and how it relates to the 200° comment made by 805moparkid... “It simply allows you to run a lot hotter safely. But the systems have to be designed to support that pressure.” Why would you run an engine at say, 300° ? or anything above 220° ? Does a...

    Taurus fan?

Look for an 80amp relay....found mine at a local electronic parts surplus place. ebay also has them for about $10. I melted 40 and 50amp relays running the fan too long. They look almost look the same a a regular relay but 2 of the paddles are much larger than the regular ones.

    heat could be warmer!

My slant did the same thing when I bought it...clogged heater core. The thing will just about roast marshmallows now ;) Do you still have the valve in the heater line? that could also be limiting flow to the core.

Does your car run hotter at higher speeds?

On the money younggun2.0 oh, and it doesn't matter if you've just had it flushed, even if the water coming out was like spring water, it could still look like this on the inside. from that link you can see just how bad the stock manufacturing process must have been. Both radiators had many...

ac and heat at the same time

Sounds like the combination vacuum module is bad or one of the hoses has a leak causing the blend door and / or the diverter door not to move.

Fan controller took a ****, again!

Do you have the fans running right off the controller? I wonder if running the controller to a couple of relays would help. I know you said it was a high amp unit.... the instructions for the dual fan controller 16789 say 35 Amp continuous per fan. What model fan are you using? Did the temp...

    Slant 6 Overheating

If you're water pump was going....it would leak or have a broken impeller shaft  If you really want to test the water pump, start the engine with the thermostat out and upper hose unhooked from the radiator, then rev the engine...you'll see instantly if it's working ;) Overheating at...

    Electric fan controller

Mine was set to come on at 190° and the Hayden controller will shut it off at a preset value below whatever it's max temp is ( not sure what the actual temp range is ) . Here in FL mine never shut off in traffic in the summer time, but would never run while out on the hwy at 60+ mph ( slant six...

    Electric fan controller

I run the hayden controller, easy to set, kinda clunky looking though. Pauly have you thought about running your controller off of a relay that only sees power when the ign is on? I know it wont cool the car when it's off, but neither did the stock fan setup. Or maybe a time delay relay, check...

    Running hot, I think.....

Running hot at speed is a flow problem.... http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=43837 My stock /6 was running just fine around town with only 10 or so cores completely open....my guess is right there with everyone else... your gauge is wonky....

    swaping ac unit. Help!

I should be fairly straight forward and I don't see why not as long as you have all of the parts from the 72 to use. I'd make sure that you get pictures of the firewall holes and measure everything out before you start. I'd say it's a fair amount of work: 1. Under dash A/C box = pain to remove...

72 Slant Six running too cold

Too cold? hahaha, Mine runs right where yours does, doesn't matter if it's 40 or 90 outside... When I first got my car it had NO heat at all.. I started replacing things, but it ended up being the outlet from the water pump was clogged with corrosion. Even now after replacing everything except...

    my fan got hungry

318's eat radiators for breakfast  glad you got it fixed. That slim radiator looks nice! are the cores the same thickness as the old rad? You'll have to report back on how it cools. I always wondered why the tank was 2x as thick as the core on my duster...I ordered on of the aluminum...

    Setting adjustable sensor for fan

Ok I installed my electric fan setup a few months back and just got my radiator situated. When I initially installed the sensor for the fan, I set it to come on at 185*. ( I have a 180* t-stat installed in my /6 ) .. the issue is that the fan will cycle on and off while the car is moving but...

    cooling issues

Calculate the expected temperature drop (inlet temp - ambient temp) * radiator efficiency = xx degrees Lets say that inlet temp is 220 and the ambient temp is 90 and the rad efficiency is 50 percent, that would be 65 degree drop at best from inlet temp to outlet temp. Think outside the box...

    A/C compressor

Ahh, I see what you mean, I say loosen the bolts holding the compressor and cut them, then you can take the compressor down to the local mechanic at your leisure and slip him $5 to take the pulley off . Or pull the fan pulley (4 bolts) and take the whole bracket off, comp and all, if you are...

    A/C compressor

Welcome aboard, I'm a little confused, I've done a manifold swap with the A/C compressor still connected. The only thing I removed was the brace that went from the top of the head to the compressor. As for the bolts, it might just be easier to pull the bracket that the comp attaches to.
