I have a 71 dart, with a 225 slant 6 and I am trying to pull the A/C compressor off to get to an exhaust stud on the head. Does anyone have a ny advice. The pulleys seem to be in the way of the bolts coming out. I am a little confused. I don't want to have to cut any bolts off but I have to get this done. If anyone knows how to do this right please let me know thanks.

Welcome aboard, I'm a little confused, I've done a manifold swap with the A/C compressor still connected. The only thing I removed was the brace that went from the top of the head to the compressor. As for the bolts, it might just be easier to pull the bracket that the comp attaches to.

Well the reason I have to pull the compressor is because the first stud is broke off and I can't get a drill into that area with out pulling the compressor. The 2 bolts that the bracket are held on by, run into the fan pulley before it is all the way out. The same issue up top with the compressor the bolts won't slide out because the pulley is in the way there too. I think I might have to cut the bolts near the bracket. I don't plan on putting the A/C back on right now anyway. I am going to cap off the lines going into the car but I don't really plan on running the A/C again. I will keep it boxed up in the garage for ever probably.

Ahh, I see what you mean, I say loosen the bolts holding the compressor and cut them, then you can take the compressor down to the local mechanic at your leisure and slip him $5 to take the pulley off . Or pull the fan pulley (4 bolts) and take the whole bracket off, comp and all, if you are just going to ditch the A/C anyway.

the bracket really should come of with the compumper. Power steering pumps are designed the same way in most cases.

i ended up cutting the heads of the bolts on the lower side and the bracket came off quick. I don't plan on putting it back on anyway. I am capping it all off so i can always put it back on. I would just have to replace those bolts i cut.
