Reasonably priced BIG BRAKE alternative that fits in a 15” wheel

That is a great idea. The disc brake conversion I did on my cuda years ago was made by ESC, and utilized the stock 10 inch drum spindles and D52 GM calipers. I had often thought about trading out the stock calipers for those Wilwood units.

    Brake Master Cylinder Lid Leaking

Mine always leaked. I wondered about putting a small bead of silicone around the edge of the lid and letting it set up. Then replace the rubber gasket. I figured it would put more pressure on the gasket, but I sold the car before I tried it. For my current car I bought a late model plastic...

    Scarebird Brakes

I bought a kit from them last year. I recommended them to a friend. He called them when he saw they were out of stock, and they said they were retiring.

Heads up to those that install a 2 bolt aluminum master cylinder.

I have a Mancini (made by Strange) aluminum master cylinder. The instructions that came with it say it is for 4 wheel disc brakes only. I will be using rear drums, so ended up purchasing an aluminum master for a 1980 Volare with manual disc/drum brakes. I checked the plastic reservoir and the...

    1" bore master cylinder ?

I bought a 2 bolt aluminum master listed for a manual brake 1980 Volare or Aspen and it is 1 1/32 bore. I haven't tried it yet to be able to report on pedal pressure.

    Disc brake spindles

Can someone confirm whether the spindles for 10 inch drum brakes are the same as the ones for the Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes?

    11" rear drum brakes.

Here is a picture of the finned drums on my car. The fins start about half way back, so they may clear.

    proportioning valve placement

Here's mine, proportioning valve and line lock all mounted on a bracket under the master cylinder.

    Line lock installation

I eliminated the factory junction block on the frame rail altogether, as my car was a drum brake car and I had to get a new proportioning valve for the front disc conversion anyway. I bought the bracket with the proportioning valve and mounted the line lock right below the bracket. You can see...

    Plastic bowl Master Cylinder!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would call them. I think you want the 1 1/32 bore with power brakes. I am running manual brakes, but I ended up with a 1 1/8 bore master since I have an aftermarket kit with larger bore calipers.

    Plastic bowl Master Cylinder!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darcy I had the exact same issues. I talked to Cass (Dr Diff) and his setup is hard to beat. I ended up finding the adapter and master at Mancicis when I was in Carlisle. I haven't installed it yet, it's one of my winter projects. Dave
