    1974 Dart 440 tuning help

What RPM's would you be seeing these increased numbers? What RPM are you starting these pulls at? Obviously the numbers you are seeing improved are under the curve, since timing would be all in by peak HP RPM, maybe not at peak TQ RPM. Usually on a dyno I start my pulls between 2500 and 3000...

    1974 Dart 440 tuning help

I wouldn't lock a street car down either, but run a MPP dizzy and see what the curve is. It might as well be locked. His car is never even under any significant driving load under 3500 RPM. If it's not detonating and it isn't pushing back on the starter, where's the issue?

    Favorite Big Block Roller Rockers

I run Harland Sharp. This set is on the 20 something year of use. Engine makes 602 on pump gas.

    Crane CCH-312-2-NC

Very mild cam, should be enjoyable for a street car.

    Crane CCH-312-2-NC

Don't get caught up in advertised powerbands. It's utter nonsense. On my 440, I run a much bigger roller cam and the best standard port heads money can buy, topped with a deep ported Victor and mine peaks at 5,900.

    906 head capabilities?

The duration is very large for a street car, the lift isn't. I agree as to the potential cause of the failure though.

My 440 build and HP guess.

This is a nice cam and is capable of knocking on 500hp inn a 440 with performer RPM heads.

My 440 build and HP guess.

Your pistons will tell you the compression for their use with those chambers. IF they don't, you'll have to do some math. YOu could also zero deck the engine to help out. [email protected] is a bit small for a 440, but it depends on the LSA as well. I wouldn't be afraid to go [email protected]. If you aren't...

What size chambers? I'd guess 440ish HP as well

    906 or 915 ?

I'll see if I can dig it up. This was some 20+ years ago, back when bigblockdart.com still existed, or was at least active. It was this engine. Note the POS Indy dual place sitting on top of it.

    906 or 915 ?

@wirehead I'm genuinely curious how can you disagree with my post, or what about it you disagree with? I literally built and dyno'd that exact combo, posted the videos and dyno sheets. That combo made 467@5600 / 514@3900-4100

    906 or 915 ?

Here is a recipe for 467hp@5,600 RPM 906 heads (blueprinted, 2.14 / 1.81, Stage 1 port) 10.5:1 comp dome pistons for 88cc chamber Performer RPM intake 825 holley 284/.528/112 soilid 1.6 ratio rockers (yields .556 lift) 2.125 full length headers

Proposed 400 bb build, cam recommendations

If you are running nitrous you want a 112+ LSA, at least 110. That will hurt your cranking compression though, so don't go too crazy on duration. I'd keep it [email protected] One cam that would work, and i've used it many times is the 284/.528/112 MPP cam.

    Edelbrock RpM head question

Strange, I've have a few that I couldn't use due to header tube interference, but most are ok on mine. I like their stuff though, quality.

There is no issue with this. Buy stage 8 SS locking bolts and use anti seize.

    Which radiator hoses?

All you need to find are the instructions for a radiator that has the same inlet and outlet sides as yours. Expensive? You must be looking at the wrong item. Radiator Hose Connectors | Speedway Motors, The Racing and Rodding Specialists

    Which radiator hoses?

Well, if you look at Be Cool radiators, they tell you the exact hoses to use. So i'd try that. Just make sure your inlet and outlet are on the same size as the Be Cool radiator you are referencing. The other option is to ben a wire the way that you need it to be and go match it up at the parts...

    440 Dyno Results

Going 10.70's on street tires and full street trim would make me a happy camper. I just want to finish getting it sorted this season. I ordered new 4.10 gears and a 4,500 9.5" billet convertor. We'll see where it leads.

Big block hydraulic roller lifters, which ones or whats your opinion on Comps ?

So many things going on here.... To start, comp cams doesn't have a "so so", reputation. There are a few people who insist they cut cams using GM lobes. Insert extended eye roll. Hughes isn't producing their own lifters. While they may stand behind "their" lifters, they don't exactly have a...

    440 compression boost

The numbers I found were from IQ52. 9.48:1 on a stock 69 440. The way I see it, move to a closed chamber aluminum head, a proper cam, proper timing and a true 10:1 or 10.5:1 is not issue. I run a blueprinted 10.5:1 with CC aluminum heads. 260@ .050 cam with 112LSA and I run 38 degrees of total...

    440 compression boost

Just as you are saying you can build an engine around low compression, you can build it around more compression. Look at other engines that make good N/A power, they all have higher compression ratios, some into the high 11._:1 range. They don't have to rattle. Choose the right cam and set the...

    Big Block Suspension Question

I'd agree with all of that, and I know you know your stuff with suspension. I'm still happy with my choice. I like Bill's system. I'd probably go that way in the future, but a rebuilt or upgraded factory style setup would also serve anyone very well
