    68 Barracuda Manual Steering Box

I was thinking of purchasing a 20:1 manual box from PST but I’m very hesitant now on going through all the time for the removal and install then finding out the new box has issues. I don’t have that kind of time to waste.

    1969 383 GTS Power Steering

From your experience with both these k frames, do you think it would be possible to install a power steering box in a manual steering k frame if a small “window” was cut on the plate under the engine mount of the manual steering k member?

HemiSSDart. Is the “window” opening in this k frame to allow for the longer snout of the power steering box to stick through?

@HemiSSDart Would you be able to post a few more close up pictures of each k frame? That would be of great help to me, e58duster75 and 1969383S. Thank you very much.

I have a friend with an original power steering ‘68 383 Barracuda. I’m going to look at his k frame and compare it to my manual steering k member in my ‘68 383 Barracuda. Thanks for the information!

ADDCO Rear Sway Bar 3/4” or 7/8” Diameter?

Hey guys, Thanks to everyone who responded. Based on all of your opinion and experience I've decided to go with the 3/4 inch diameter rear bar. ADDCO also recommended the 3/4 bar with the stock front sway bar as well. Thanks again.

ADDCO Rear Sway Bar 3/4” or 7/8” Diameter?

Thanks for the replies guys. It's kind of funny that the ADDCO 3/4" rear sway-bar is priced higher than the 7/8" bar.

ADDCO Rear Sway Bar 3/4” or 7/8” Diameter?

Thinking about installing a rear sway bar on my ‘69 Dart Swinger 340 that has the factory 7/8” diameter factory front sway bar and PST 1.03” diameter torsion bars. I’m trying to decide between the 3/4” or 7/8” diameter ADDCO rear sway bar. I’ve read that the 7/8” diameter rear sway bar might...

Does anyone know if the ADDCO and PST 7/8 diameter rear sway bars that fit a ‘69 Dart are the same? They look very similar in the pictures but there is a $40 difference in price. Thank you. ADDCO PST

68 Cuda PS gear and column

Yes agreed, but it's the "flat" part of the shaft that determines the amount of distance of collapsing.

68 Cuda PS gear and column

I don't think it's the inside of the shaft that's the issue. It's the reduction of travel of overlapping flat part of the shaft being reduced due to the shaft being telescoped shorter.

68 Cuda PS gear and column

Yes that was another option I considered, shortening the manual shaft, but I wanted to maintain the full collapse-ability of the steering shaft in case of front end collision.

68 Cuda PS gear and column

Hi Dave, You can just change the actual shaft instead of the entire steering column. That's what I did. Power steering shaft is 38" long Manual shaft is 40 1/2" long. The 68-72 power steering boxes are all the same. B body, E body and A body. The pitman arm shaft diameter was increased in '73.

    Sachs shocks on an A-body?

Sachs are very good quality but if I remember correctly they don’t offer a rear shock absorber for an A-body. I bought a set of KYB’s for my ‘69 Dart last spring and I really like them. The ride is firm but not harsh at all. I find the car handles much better with the KYB’s over the Mopar...

    Moog K704 Dust Boot

I called Moog and they told me the same thing. Boots are only available with ball joints. Not sold separately. I ended up buying a set of old stock upper ball joints on eBay just for the dust boots.... I have had some luck with Energy Suspension dust boots on tierod ends and pitman arms.

    pin stuck in steering coupling

A buddy of mine just made this steering coupler split pin removal tool out of a tapered punch for me. The tip that locates in the inside of the split pin keeps the punch from slipping off. Should make removal and installation a whole lot easier.
