    Edelbrock 800cfm AVS2

Jeff Seighman, Just wondering if you’ve worked out the richness issues with your 800 CFM AVS2? What engine are you running that carb on?

    Carb spacer

Steve, I run an Edelbrock 8724 1/2" thick wood spacer under my 1805 AVS2 as well previously under a 1405 along with a cool carb spacer on my 340. Actually the Cool Carb spacer is right under the carb the 1/2 wood spacer is under that spacer with 3 gaskets all together and it still takes a bit...

    Edelbrock 800cfm AVS2

I’ve got a AVS2 650 on my 340 and noticed it was really rich too. I leaned it down 1 level. I think all these carbs are calibrated rich out of the box.

    Ram Air Box...

I have a friend who put a system on his '69 Rambler with a 401 and he's happy with it. He really likes to have a sleeper/grandma look on his car and it runs in the 11's. They're located in Hamilton Ontario which is pretty close to me.

    Edelbrock carb mod

I have the 1905 AVS2 manual choke and I faked the factory choke system for the “correct” look. I tapped the holes on the AV2 2 carb body where the pull-off would mount and installed an NOS pull off in the factory location. I also ran a dummy vacuum hose from the pull off to the plug in the base...

    Carb tuning with spacer

A recent episode of Engine Masters on Motortrend On Demand proved there was a change in air/fuel ratio at idle when a spacer was installed under a carb on a dual plane intake. The idle air/fuel ratio had to be adjusted, but the fuel distribution at higher RPM was more even, If I remember...

    Stock 340 breather

I am running the Mopar Performance aluminum copy of the factory '68/'69 cast iron intake part number P4529116. Painted engine colour it looks like the stock cast iron but weighs like 25 lbs less. Here is a link to my Dragtimes page with pictures of my mostly stock 340 engine with 3.23 gears...

    Stock 340 breather

K&N E-1540 - 3.5 inches high K&N E-1530 - 2.75 inches high I've been using the E-1540 on my '69 Dart 340 with factory air cleaner for about 5 years with no clearance issues with the hood.

    Stock 340 breather

Use the stock 340 air breather but use the ‘68 383 K&N air filter element instead. It‘s the same diameter as the 340 one but 3/4 of an inch taller opening the gap more between the aircleaner base and top for more air entry.

    New gas tank

I totally agree. The Spectra sender indicates empty but I actually still have 2 gallons in the tank. When I fill the tank just over halfway the gauge indicates full and then the gauge drops like a sack of hammers after a short drive. Thought I had a rupture in the tank when I added gas the...
