Has anyone gone thru the process of converting from standard brakes (disk front, drum rear) to power brakes? This would be on a 75 valiabv, slant 6.

Look in the blow-out diagram above...I am talking about "ring 05-06-17", near the adaptor. It shows round in the picture, though it is oblong shaped in the kits.

Sorry...I meant drawing....they show it as a round ring....the ones I got look more like elongated rubber bands...

I updated my post with pictures...the first one shows how I installed the metal plates....(not my install, just what I referenced). The second photo shows the rubber rings I am talking about....seems like they are used for SOMETHING, just cant figure out what or why or how they install.

I will try that, but its not the pads moving in the calipers that is making the noise....the calipers are moving on the brackets themselves and "rattling"..... :sad10: I have them installed like this: This diagram shows the rubber ring, but how does it install? Doesnt make sense it would...

Thanks for the reply. The brackets are from a 78/79 cordoba I am told...The calipers are new and from an 80 NYer....and Rock Auto/Autozone list the same calipers for the two cars. The clips are brand new. Someone suggested I need to bend the clips more.....???

Same exact problem here too..... I ended up using it just to change the fluid.....made sure all the fluid was flushed and then had an assistant pump for me while I wrenched.

I sit and wonder what the heck people used to get info before Al Gore invented the internet......

Thanks guys....got 'er done....the old studs just tapped out with a hammer and back in to the new M/C. (Sometimes I worry too much...LOL)

Got a new (reman) master cylinder today and realized that it doesnt include the mounting studs.... Is there a trick to getting the old ones off the old one without trashing them ? Or do I need to locate new ones? Seems like they should come with the master cylinder.....but they didnt....

Thanks.....before I got your post, I ordered a reman unit from autozone only.....I figure for $16 I couldnt wrong.....the current one I have is questionable anyways......The cover would have been at least $10 by itself I am sure...LOL The only thing I am wondering now -- should I have gotten...

Will take a picture this evening and post it.....I checked the dorman part and mine looks different......both the front and back parts are the same size.....whereas on the dorman part they are different......theirs looks to be for a front disc car....

Need to replace the master cylinder cover and gasket on my 72 fish....cant find one anywhere so far....figured I would go chrome while I was at it... Any ideas for finding one? If I could at least find a new gasket.....mine is leaking and I cant proceed with bleeding brakes and such til I get...
