Did it overheat before you added the homemade shroud? If the shroud is too deep into the fan blade it can reduce the effectiveness of the fans ability top draw air through the radiator. I think you want at least 3/4" of fan blade sticking outside of the shroud area. Post some pics of your setup...

Not sure about the setup for an A body. On my E body the /6 radiator wouldnt work when I dropped in a stroked 360, the upper rad hose outlet was on the wrong side and the fan blade would hit the upper rad hose. I went with a Spectra V8 rad from Rockauto my car doesn`t overheat and no shroud on...
