    If you are going to use an electric pump, I would just remove the mechanical one. Put a block off plate, where the mechanical one was, and mount the regulator to the block off plate.

    I would go to a NAPA store before any of the other box store part places, they tend to have better quality. You are looking at like what 2' of hose at the most and a few clamps.

    I have never had issues with the AFB / Eldebrock style carbs, they just work. I really like the Street Demons, just put a new one on my Duster. They are a set and forget about it carb.

    My guess on how it got stripped in the first place, the eccentric on the cam was as the high point, putting pressure on the fuel pump arm. Somebody changed the pump, and bound it up, so they just tightened the crap out of the bolts to pull it flush with the cover.

    I have a stock style carter mechanical pump on my Duster and it will creep up to 9 psi at idle. Carter M6866 Carter Muscle Car Mechanical Fuel Pumps | Summit Racing So unless you have put a gauge on your pump, who knows what it puts out.

    I would buy a power valve tester and a mity vac. I have found the advertised and actual on alot of power valves to be not accurate.

    i know the 625 street demon I had, is a very versitle carb. It worked good on a stock 318 with nothing more than LD4B intake and stock exhaust. Same carb I used on a 10.81 compression 5.9 mag with stock eldebrock heads, added headers and duel exhaust. Simple carb adjustments and it ran good...

    625 street demon, most likely will work fine out of the box. Street avengers seem to always be lean out of the box, I have one and do not care for it.

    The carbs are on sale right now at Summit Racing. Also Fi-Tech makes a fuel injected set up for 6-pacs. It is the intake that is hard to find.
