Thank you for the quick response! The rear end is in really great shape, and the price/location are good. Just wanted to make sure first. Thanks again!

    8-3/4 question

I did some reading and searches. Just wanted to confirm with those in the know. I am in the process of buying a 8-3/4" open differential chrysler rear end. Question is, can I just change the 3rd member with a sure grip unit? Thanks in advance.

Anyone ever use Torqueflites by Randy in Michigan??

He's been attending the mopar swap meets for years. I don't have any feedback for you though. IIRC, there is a mopar trans guy in Livoinia. You might out check the Mid-West forum threads for more info on him. Steve~

Help with 7 1/4 rear end

1970Duster, I wish I still had the paperwork on that car, or the car itself! I've owned many Mopars over the years (A's, B's & C's), & I do know the difference between a 7-1/4", 8-1/4", and 8-3/4" rear ends. This car came originally equipped with a 8-1/4" SG rear end. Don't know if it was...

Help with 7 1/4 rear end

Knowing MaMopar back then, you could have ordered it with either the 7-1/4', 8-1/4", or the 8-3/4" rear differentials in it. Years ago I had bought a '67 Barracuda from the original owner. It was not a Formula S, but was ordered with a 273 2-V, 727A trans, H.D. suspension, and a 8-1/4" 3.23 sure...

    New guy with new Dart

I totally agree with JTKAAA07, that you could order a car with a specific suspension/rear end. I once owned a 67 Barracuda that came was order from the factory with a 273-2V, 727A trans, 8-1/4" 3:23 SG rear, and H.D. suspension. I bought it from the original owner, and he showed me all the...

    New guy with new Dart

Welcome aboard! Is it all original? Without having seen it, or any paper work (build sheet), most cars of that set-up, will most likely have a 904 trans, and either 7-1/4" or 8-1/4" rear end. If it was an ordered car, original owner could have checked it off with a 727 trans and a 8-1/4" rear...

    904 vs 727

2 words for you - "rotating mass". Everything in a 727 is bigger than in the 904, which equals more "parasitic drag", or "parasitic power loss".

    What motor is it

The # starting with 802 is the serial #. Depending on the year of the block, the cast # should be either 2536030, 4006730, or 4104230. This is the as cast # on the side of the block, also followed by the c.i.d. 318.
