Should still be using ported vacuum advance, even if all the other smog stuff is removed.

    850 thermo quad

Dash pot vacuum does go to the rear of carb so would leave that there. Sounds like you need a vacuum advance can for your distributer. Would research on FABO the best way to set up timing for a street car. A lot of good info. For a street car vacuum advance is needed. Drive ability, MPG and...

    850 thermo quad

Is your car set up to run full vacuum advance or ported advance? Sounds like part of your problem COULD be you should be running ported advance. If so, confirm forward is ported, if so connect and try that with the proper adjustments.

    850 thermo quad

Hard to tell by your picture but Looks like it should be the one on drivers side that is capped, small to the out side of mixture screw. No vacuum at idle, vacuum will start as throttle is opened.

ThermoQuad secondaries, should they go full vertical?

The secondaries have an adjustment tang , the more the tang is adjusted for the secondaries to open the leaner it runs. the less they open, the richer it runs .

agree with an O/D, but do not like the factory O/D gear split. thinking of the Passon hemi O/D.

    15.0 mpg to 21.6 mpg!

It is actually a built 360. The car has no stripes, mags or scoops. Looks like a grandpa's car. 360, 4 speed and a 460 lift cam and 222 duration a .050. 3.23 with 26 inch tire and sure grip. still needs more tire. at about 70 mph at about 3200 rpm getting 16 mpg. around town less, only because my...

    15.0 mpg to 21.6 mpg!

You can use DIY cowl induction. Also try one of the smaller Thermoquads. small primaries with large secondaries. Best of both worlds. mileage and performance.

    Vacuum secondary issues

Are you sure they are not opening? typically the vacuum secondaries will not open with it in neutral and revving the engine.

Intake manifold flow test. Interesting read!

Have seen a 300 six cyl ford set up to run on three cyl and used the other three as a compressor. sounds like an idea to set up a 8 cyl to use as a flow bench for 4 of them.

Intake manifold flow test. Interesting read!

That is why there is two different lengths for the cross ram, low rpm and higher rpm. tuning the intake runner length for the pulse for either high or low rpm.

    Possible FI problem

Yes, with no codes it can be difficult, and I am no a FI guru either. But first reaction was a difference between cold running and warmed running, so check sensor to see what the output is between cold/warm. Could also be restricted fuel filter, giving enough fuel when warm, but not enough when...

Carburetor scoops do they make a difference?

The early Direct connection hood scoops actually where raised about 1 1/2 inches to the opening because of of what is called boundary layer, so opening of the scoop was in less turbulent air flow. The cowl induction on my dart does have pressure, just open the vents going down the highway, that...

Carburetor scoops do they make a difference?

No, never had a issue with fuel smell in the cabin. Even on a hot Louisiana day. I do use the fuel filter with the small return so no boil over.

Carburetor scoops do they make a difference?

I do not drag race, I road race and a daily driver in good weather. On the street and the road course my set up is mostly for cold air, but it does have some ram air effect, just not enough to be a big factor. I noticed a BIG difference in drive ability and seat of the pants performance...

Also if a stock replacement carb, jetting could be a little lean running on the crap fuel and alcohol added in it.

Now you have more to spend on more stock stuff. Check out RustyRatRod's Guide To Hot Rod Bliss I still say this should be made into a sticky.

Question, 3 2 barrel throttle bodies on V8

would it be possible to use 3, 2 barrel throttle bodies being driven by a v6 multi point computer on a V8? I would see if it could be reflashed so would act like a 6 pack set up with center 2 as primary then progressive secondary's. And yes, only using it to for the fuel, not the ign.

Carburetor scoops do they make a difference?

Or cowl induction and use a flat hood. Ram air and cold air. best of both worlds and keep the sleeper look.

    "cold air intake" piping size

Would like to help, very car specific though. whish you where closer. The small block filter assy would be easier to make and you would only lose about 3/8 of filter height.

    "cold air intake" piping size

Made my cowl induction air cleaner from a used base and top that had a single snorkel that I got from a friend, Gary at Winkel auto in Milford NH. actually got the whole car as a project from him. Air cleaner takes a 13 x 3 3/8 air filter so I think it is from a big block motor. with the mouth...
