    Header coatings, how necessary?

My idler arm, pitman and trans shift cable are very close to my headers. I have not had any problems out of them, but I have always had the ceramic coated headers. I could see how an un-coated pipe would cause problems.

    Header coatings, how necessary?

I have the Doug's ceramic coated headers on my Valiant and I love them. I have been running these headers for about five years now, and the finish has dulled a little, but that was in the first few months and has not progressed any more. they greatly help with under hood temps as well.

Just recieved my dougs d450 headers Wowwww

Plug acess with a wobble Snap-on plug socket is very easy. Kind of a pain in the *** when the motor is hot to get the plug wires off though!

Just recieved my dougs d450 headers Wowwww

For MIG welds, they are ok, could be better. They have no cleanup marks on them, so they were welded once and done. For the amount of money they cost, I would have liked to see them TIG welded. One other thing I did not like about these headers is the bends in them. The drastic bends are...

Just recieved my dougs d450 headers Wowwww

Yes the trans cross member was modified to run the "dual" setup. Pull the torsion bar time ten!! yes, the slip tubes make the job easier, but torsion bars are so easy to get out of the way. Yes the flange meterial between the runners must be cut, the D450's have the precut on them, just...

Just recieved my dougs d450 headers Wowwww

I am running the 90 degree oil filter adapter with the Dougs D450 headers on my 64. I found that the torsion bars are about the only thing that MUST come out on both sides. Defiantly a job you would need a helping hand or two with.

    cool exhaust manifolds

This is very good advice! I didn’t believe the hype with breaking a motor in with ceramic headers, now I’m a believer. I have Doug’s ceramic D450 headers ($$$) on the stroker. I did the break-in with them on the car, and now 1, 3, 5 tubes are discolored and kinda flat grey in color. For the cost...

2.5 complete exhaust VS a 3.0 complete exhaust

When I put in my X pipe, I also ran full length pipes to the bumper at the same time. When I did all of this, I could tell a huge difference in the power output. Since I added two items at the same time, I cant really pinpoint what made the car feel better-the X or the complete exhaust system...

    New muffler sounds...

About 12 inches after the header, I bought two 2 ½ inch diameter U bends from summit. I cut, tweaked and bent them around the goofy *** trans cross member. It is mandrel bent till just after the X pipe, and I did all of that. I drove it to my local muffler shop, and they did all the rest of the...

Yeah, the flows are loud, but the Borlas are expensive. they are a very free flowing design, so there are no blockages within.

I have finally got around to posting a clip of my exhaust. On the stroker I am running Doug’s headers to all 2 ½ inch tube, an X pipe, and Borla pro xs muffs. The pipes are run all the way to the bumper. I personally love the way it sounds, there is absolutely no in-car drone when cruising, it...

    H-Pipe vs. X-Pipe vs. Straight-pipes

Ha, I just burnt up my trans, and didnt even think about the pipes in the way till you said that. Some clamps for disasembly would be a good idea rather than a fully welded setup.

    H-Pipe vs. X-Pipe vs. Straight-pipes

i put an X pipe setup on my stroker going from just strait pipes. I re-used the same Borla muffs, and the X made the car considerably quieter. I love the X setup. I couldnt really tell a seat of the pants difference, but i'm sure it helped on the flow of the system...
