Why is it that all of the really neat project vehicles are always on the other side of the country.....

Are they still using the 4 hammer GFM machines to pound out barrel blanks on mandrels? I made shotgun and rifle barrels for a few years for Remington back in the 70s. It was quite the process - albeit sucked as a job after awhile..

Very good score I'd say! I bought a new F150 4x4 in 78'. It was pretty basic with the 4 speed, 351ci motor, PS and not much else. I remember paying $7400 for it. For almost $2000 more you must have gotten the top of the line model...

Yea, you know mine did the same thing. I bought a redone bumper from Tri City and it cracked like that around the bolt heads. I figured I over tightened it but maybe they do have a brittle chrome process???

I agree, and for the most part I always loved summers up there too (decades past). These days it seems you guys are getting the same hot humid summer weather that we have down here - without all of the air conditioning..:thumblef:

I hang very close to the A/C this time of year....... My outdoor / garage activities go on hold from June til September here. I don't even like driving my "hot" rod during the summer months.

Local guy here has a 330 that he pulled out of a 56 Desoto years ago. It's been sitting in his garage forever. Looks to be complete from carb to oil pan and has the accessories with it. He wanted $1500 for it last I knew.

I've never had a street challenge in the Plymouth.... Lots of thumbs up but never a challenge. Must have something to do with the sound and body shake of a 10 second car rumbling down the street that keeps the kids in their place...:)

Nope but I tried doing it "once" in my 08' Charger R/T. Front end is too low to use my ramps to drive up on. Can't get one side up high enough with a jack and getting two sides up is a real PITA. Then you have the stupid plastic "skid plate" to remove - and then the damn oil pan plug is...

My 08' Hemi is the easiest car I ever owned to change plugs on - even though there were 16 of them. Way easier than the earlier V8s with plugs on the sides of the heads ...:)

It's usually not the engineers that result in these messes it's the bean counters that get final say in what gets done. That said I do recall some young engineers that would design to "enginered perfection" without thinking of the buyers or people who had to service them afterwards..

In the past couple of years I've probably put my car in 6-8 car shows each year and been to countless cruise-ins. This year I expect the number to drop dramaticly for both shows and cruises - especially if I can sell my car :)

A bit, they are 325/50 ETs but they have 24lbs of air in them for street driving - and the motor makes near 700hp.....:)

Not mine but I saw this A Body at Myrtle Beach last year and thought it was so nicely done that the pictures are still on my computer. Not an A Body - but I like more doors too... :)
