65 Valliant drum to disc swap.

I did the Scarebird conversion on my 65 several years ago. Back then I had about $500 in it, plus a little more to have the hubs redrilled for 4.5” bolt pattern. Now I think it might be more cost effective to buy a complete bolt on kit with later knuckles and large ball joint upper A arms...

    Ni-Copp Brake/Fuel/Transmission line

I replumbed all of my front brake hard lines with the stuff. Absolutely love it. Easy to work with and very forgiving.

    Right Stuff disc brake kit

That's my working theory also. Something is already a little close and then gets tighter as the pads or rotors or something else heats up. I have the Green bearings. New axels and narrowed housing built by Moser. Thanks.

    Right Stuff disc brake kit

How are your Right Stuff brakes working out? I have the same kit on my 8 3/4 and although the braking ability is great I can't seem to eliminate this terrible growling noise I get after driving for a while. Hope you've had better luck.

Right Stuff Rear Disc Conversion Setup

I have the Scarebird conversion on the front and the Right Stuff on the rear. I use an adjustable proportioning valve and ran all new brake lines front to back. I'm still dialing in the rears. I had drums before. I've had a terrible time getting the Right Stuff rears to settle in. They...

Dr. Diff BBP axles with 11 x 2.5 Drums

Thanks for the info. Did you have to open up the center register on your drums also, or just re-drill for 5x4.5"?

Dr. Diff BBP axles with 11 x 2.5 Drums

You have stock 10 x 1.75 drums? Were they custom axels from Dr Diff or the off-the-shelf BBP A-body ones?

Dr. Diff BBP axles with 11 x 2.5 Drums

Swapped out my Moser 35 spline axels/spools yesterday with a suregrip and the Dr Diff axles and discovered that my new BBP A-body 8 3/4 axles from Dr. Diff will not work with my existing 10" x 1.75" redrilled drum setup. I'd like to go disk on the rear but all the kits are so expensive. The 11 x...

    So Scarebird it is!

Here is the write up I did on my Scarebird conversion. I'm really happy with this setup. Since I did this document I've changed to the two post light weight aluminum MC and 10" drums on the back. I think if it had vacuum assist it would be like braking on any modern car. Regardless, the...

    Ebay Rear Disc Conversion

I think that if you don't already have all of the drum brake hardware for your rearend, a kit like this is a bargain. Backing plates, drums, hardware, parking brake struts, pads, etc add up quick. And that's 10.5" drums. 11" is even worse.

    Ebay Rear Disc Conversion

These are the docs I received from the Ebay seller. Looks like the axel retaining plate is sandwiched between two of the brackets so it is NOT pulled out and apparently sits at the normal location as the first bracket replaces the normal drum backing plate.....does that make sense?

    Ebay Rear Disc Conversion

Def not Scarebirds. I run those on the front. I received the install guide. Seems very straight forward. It does require you to set the parking brake each time you park to keep the calipers adjusted. Apparently a requirement for the GM calipers that are used.

    Ebay Rear Disc Conversion

Thanks for the feedback and the great pics. Looks like a clean install. Looking at your pictures it appears those adapters may pull the axel out a 1/4" or more. Is that the case? Thank!

    another Scarebird question

Scarebird- I found all my parts on RockAuto pretty easily. Try to find parts all shipping from The same RockAuto warehouse and you'll save on shipping. Wheels- I used 14" mopar steelies.

    master cylinder part #

Probably a MS from a 73-74 front disc car. Try Rockauto and see what they list for a 73 duster or dart with factory front disc, rear drums. You may need a proportioning valve as well. Check out inline tube for prop valve/distribution block if you don't have one installed already...

    65 Cuda Disk Kit...Which Lines?

I used off the shelf brake lines from NAPA and just bent them up to fit. On the long run from the prop valve to the back I was able to join two long pieces from NAPA with the proper compression fitting. Worked out great.

    65 Barracuda Brakes... Help

I just did the Scarebird drum to disc conversion on my 65 Valiant which should be nearly identical to your Cuda. Scarebird Conversion on an Early A

To my surprise one wheel fit perfect, no grinding required. The other side needed very little. Contact between the caliper and the steelie was toward the inside of the wheel not at the top of the rim as I expected. There was a little bit of a protrusion on the outside of the caliper that can be...
