It can be stupid expensive going to a manual trans. My dart was a 3spd on the column, then I swapped to a 4spd overdrive, and it's now a close ratio 4spd. I had 3.55 gears with all of these trans'. The 3spd isn't great for economy or performance. The 4spd overdrive sucks for performance but...

Not fun to drive due to the horrible gear spacing compared to a regular close ratio 4spd. However the overdrive is wonderful if you do a lot of highway driving! The ODs tend to be noisier and wear out faster than the non OD units.

Is the shifter a Hurst unit? And still, what levers do you have? It makes a big difference.

My OD is noisy anyways, it's going away. And I've already got the 360 mostly finished. It'll be cheaper to swap it than boost it. Not to mention, that I'm really craving a hooligan! A car to scare myself with. And yes, my car is fairly light. It's a no option, 2dr sedan, '64 Dart.

Agreed! I've got a hot 360 that I'm putting together for it, and I intend on putting a regular non-OD 4spd behind it. The slant is getting killer mileage, but I only drive about 10 miles a day reaching speeds no greater than 50mph. Even if I only get 10mpg with the 360, it'll only cost me $2.50...

I personally hate my A833 OD, except when on the interstate cruising at 70mph. My combo isn't optimal however. I've got the OD behind a stock 170cuin slant six, 3.55 rear gear and 24" tires. First gear isn't bad, the jump to second is a bit much, going to 3rd feels like you missed a gear, and...
