My D100 and a warmed over 318 ran 10.2 in the 1/8th at 70mph, but I was only running 3.91 gears and had to shift at 5000rpm due to some kind of misfire, and it was super slow out the hole.     Run away from the overdrive. The gear spread SUCKS fo racing, or enjoyment. And on an early a keep the tire in between a 26"-28". As described, it'll look cool, sound cool, but won't work well.

    With that low of a SCR, the best bet would be boost! Big single plane, blow throw carb and a moderate sized turbo would make this thing 500hp easy, IF the pistons can take the abuse.

    I can't believe nobody has said this, but a 727 in an early A takes some serious work. Beating pinch welds flat, etc.. A 904 would be a way better choice, and fitment is way better. Also, your header choices are very limited in an early A.

    300hp/350tq I've got a similar build with a touch more cam, HP manifolds, 750cfm carb, 0.060" overbore, and a legit 9.4:1cr. I'd estimate my build is 300hp/370tq. I'm wanting some TTis and some RHS LAX heads. I think I'd make a legit 350hp/400tq then.
