    Sizing carburetor

well, for better or worse, I have a 318 thats about to get a mild cam and probably a TQ. I do have a couple of AFBs on hand too, but at the moment one of those is Plan B. 800 cfm on a 318.. Hmmm....

    TQ questions

I've never lived in a hi altitude area, Illinois is pretty flat besides boring.... But I've had Carter BBD s and Holley 2245s ( what they used on 360s) that had that same 3 bolt idle comp. Nothing really about altitude in that.

    TQ questions

Ok I figured it out. It's just the bowl vent solenoid, nothing crazy there. From what I see nothing there about it doing any kind of altitude compensation. I believe that altitude comp( if equipped) was on the front in the area where the 9080 has the idle comp. I found a Mopar technical book...

    TQ questions

Huh/ when I saw what I did about the 9080 I didn't see that it's a lean burn model. The 9265s were listed as a federal carb, both came from junked vehicles in Illinois, nowhere near mountains/ hi altitude nor California. And yeah/ everything will be plugged except for the vac advance port, the...

I'm not worried about the extra EGR port, a vacuum cap will fix that. How would it be set up internally otherwise? Besides the extra port would it be set up the same as the version without that port? Either way I will not be using EGR. The intake that I have here isn't set up for it, and I've...

The electric choke model is the "performance" model, was an aftermarket carb. Anyone know what the 9080 was originally used on? The 2 alike that I have had supposedly been recalibrated to be less "smoggy" when demon sizzler had them, that and to rebush the throttle body were the 2 reasons I...

I also have a couple of Edelbrock/AFBs here to choose from as well .. one is a 500, the other one is 600/625 cfm. But I've had issues with running those with percolating when I shut them off hot. Not these 2 particular carbs (I've never run them) but I have run several of that series carbs// and...

Then I have 1 more. Found at garage sale or swap meet, I've never run this one either or had apart. Very clean, I wouldn't be surprised if it's only dirty from sitting and maybe never ran on an engine? I have no idea. But it's a 9811s, I bought it for this same car because it was cheap, and...

Next up is a 9080S. I don't know what the original application might be on this one. Id appreciate it if someone out there who knows would post that info. I don't know where I got this one, I've never been inside it nor seen it run on anything. It has the same style bellcrank as the first 2, it...

    TQ questions

I have 4 TQs here. 2 are the same as each other, and 1 each of 2 more different numbered versions. I'm wanting to know what difference there would be if all are in equal condition how they'd run on a mild 318. (Don't shoot me, but besides a mild cam that will include a set of 302 heads and a...

    Carter rebuild

I remember that for 1 or 2 years, dodge used the Rochester 2 bbl as original equipment on 318s.... Around 71 or so. I believe that during that time you could have gotten either that Rochester or the Carter BBD.

    Carter rebuild

I bought 2 nos BBDs from a guy who is on the /6 forum, i wish I'd have bought more than 2. 6537s, a 318 application, both went into /6s and run fantastic. I only wish i knew my son was gonna sell the truck i put the 1st of those nos bbd's on, I'd have rebuilt one of the old ones on my shelf...

    Carter rebuild

I wouldn't trust one of those chinacarbs any farther than I could throw it.... And op, why are you asking about jets? Why are you thinking you need replacement? It's already richer than an original '84 carb would be. You could use the same jets and different metering rods for same effect, but...

    Carter rebuild

Nope. It's not original to the truck. Can't say if the engine is original either, carb might be original to that..

    Carter rebuild

That carb is much older than the truck. Where you see "6316s" that's what you need to get the right kit. That carb is at least 10 years older than the truck, not saying that's a bad thing at all. By then most 318s were using the Holley 2280 rather than the Carter. I can tell roughly how old by...

    Throttle cable/gas pedal issues - holley on a 318

No... Correct fix is to scrap the Holley 1850. Never did have much luck with them vs a Carter 4 bbl except for feeding the Engine more gas than it needed/no matter what I did with an 1850/ except to pull the 1850 and sell it....

NEED HELP,FUEL PUMP BOLT ISSUE,LEAKS OIL

Especially if I had never had that timing cover for myself I'd have pulled it out of the car and looked everything over. If only because I've had to replace a few small block timing covers for antifreeze leakage at the top of the cover adjacent to the water pump passages. They love to blow the...

    Off road carbs

Alot of that "off road" just has to do with emissions, they are calibrated different than a stock carb, and being they "look different" than a stock carb may not pass at least the visual portion of a smog test

Plastic And So-Called Phenolic Carb Spacers

I just bought a phenolic spacer for a BBD geared towards Super Six applications (as he had advertised, and thats what its being used with) Got it on Ebay, I saw them advertised for sale either here or the /6 site, dont remember which. Well see how that works here shortly. I did have to enlarge...

    AFB parts source?

I've heard before about the idea of the other carb I have here, being engineered originally to basically match the original specs for the 71 383, (cool that it was initially geared toward Mopar as I'm tired of most thinking we all live in the Chevy world") Does anyone know similar information...

    1977 PLYMOUTH SPORT FURY

mine runs "Ok" on the 2 bbl, or it did. Mine has the Holley 2280. Last summer it wasn't wanting to idle clean, and it wasn't adjustment. I think it's due for a dunking and a kit. but mine also has Lean burn that I need to eliminate. that means a different carb, one with ported vac provision so...

    AFB parts source?

I thought the 9000 series AFBs were all aftermarket? I remember buying a few (forgot which) either 9626 or 9636s about 20 years ago.
