    Slant Six Carb Issues

I sas that listing Dan posted and it looks like a crimp together style. Not a screw together style of fuel pump. I didn't know they ever "remanned" the crimp style pymps

    Slant Six Carb Issues

I bought 2 of them about 3 years ago from eBay, genuine Carter (I think that's what they used on the assembly line even) brand new in their boxes, and pretty cheap as I remember. Gotta do a lil digging, as of there's 10 listings for whatever the prices are all over the place for the same exact thing

    PNW Slant 6 engine rebuilder?

Go to the /6 site and look up Reed. There's a couple others in that area but they haven't been active lately/ they used to "live" on that site.

    Slant six transplant ‘64 Barracuda

There's at least one more /6 pan...not shown No this pan won't fit your car. The rear sump pan shown is 70s/80s truck, I recently had an engine with a front sump out of a 64 pickup. And OP I see you're listed as being from Savannah? RRR is by Macon. And member Marcus V is between Macon and...

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

Mine is 0.020 over (I wanted to bore the least amount as possible to eliminate the wear and taper that oversized parts were available for) No sense to go "straight to 60 over" unless your block actually needs 60-over to correct for wear I had my block decked 0.030 and the head 0.070. I guessed...

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

How much will really be gained in this case? Stock manifold vs ported manifold vs headers? And at that 6 into 1, or 3-2-1, twin sets of 3, or whatever other variation of headers that could be had?

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

Rick posted while I was hunting and pecking, I agree with the compression increase. All pros and no cons unless you get crazy. Between the block and head I used, I had 0.100" milled off in my rebuild and ended up with exactly the 8.4:1 that these engines were advertised as having been, in the...

    Stock exhaust manifolds vs headers

My vote is to get a stock flange gasket and use it to compare to the size of the original style manifold and take a die grinder and port the manifold to match the size of the outlet gasket, When I did mine I couldn't believe both the extent to which the cast hole in the manifold was 1)smaller...

    Slant 6 oil pressure woes…

there was talk of a mechanical test gauge earlier. Then where would you even connect that? there should be a spot on the oil pump housing.

    Slant 6 oil pressure woes…

I thought I posted this earlier.... not seeing it now. I had a 64 225 and trans here recently, actually fired it up while sittin on the trailer. Didn't run it but a minute or 2 each time, feeding it by dribbling gas in the carb throat. I split the trans and put the engine on the stand. I...

    Slant 6 oil pressure woes…

I recently had a '64,/6 here that I was able to get running while on my trailer before I separated the trans from the engine, but once I got them apart and the engine on a stand I took the pan off and it was full to a point where it was covering the pickup completely with a sludge thicker than...

    Slant 6 Water Pump Rebuild

I did that once. On a different straight 6, a Ford 300. When I put the clutch fan back on (one of the first direct thread onto the pump shaft ones I ever worked on) I fought it coming off as tight as it was. I gave it that "last little tug" and snapped the threads off the wp shaft. Not wanting...

    Help finding part

What size thread does your exhaust manifold have? I believe some had 5/16-18 coarse thread and the others were 3/8-16. Don't think they were fine thread but could have been. It's been a while. Easy enough to check. I think even if you have the small threaded exhaust and an intake with a fat hole...

    Irregular Rough Running

I hope you're not the type who doesn't replace anything until the car won't run. Sounds like so far everything done was normal maintenance parts. Though these days new sure doesn't necessarily mean "good".

(Sorta) Super Six Build Just Getting Started

I've heard that bouchillon has a setup much like the 90s Cherokees and Durangos used, but what my son got from them sure doesn't look anything like those. Ice also heard of people getting kickdown cables from those vehicles in the junkyard and doing well with those. That may be another option

(Sorta) Super Six Build Just Getting Started

My son has bought 2 bouchillon setups, and they look like some hilljack cobbled them up with a couple of fist sized rocks in the dirt. Very cobbled appearing. I have the lokar on hand, so I'll try them out before I spend any more. If I have trouble with those then I might try something else.

    Oil pump model fitment question

It's not just a regular o ring. It's closer to the same thing as the pump to block gasket type thing but a "skinny donut". Last time I needed it I was able to go to either auto zone or O'Reilly's and had it in a day.

    Oil pump model fitment question

The first one is OEM or an older replacement. The newer ones are like the bottom one, only use 5 bolts to mount. If it's just the outer cover gasket leaking fel pro and victor used to have the o ring to seal that, shouldn't have to even pull the pump out to fix that

What's the best way to find a dead cylinder?

Having to pay for the swap complicates things. Is there a trans or at least a flywheel and bellhousing on the extra engine? I've fired them up on the ground before.
