SCAT 408 stroker crankshaft rear main seal leak

As far as I know the block has not been line honed. It was all original when I took it apart the first time. The machine shop didn't think line honing was needed. I will have to check how far it sticks out of the block when I take it apart again. At least this is in a D100 so I can easily get...

SCAT 408 stroker crankshaft rear main seal leak

I have a 408 I built last fall using a SCAT stroker kit. No rear main leak when I first ran it but starting leaking after a while and continued getting worse. Replaced the rear main about a month ago - worked great for a few weeks but starting to leak again. Used a standard Fel-Pro rubber rear...

    LUNATI 60403LK - 494/513

I just installed this cam in my Scamp this spring. Love it so far. 360 with 10:1 compression. IMM LAX heads. Hughes 1.6 rockers. 3.91 sure grip. 904 with 2500 stall. Mild lope at idle and pulls hard to 6000 rpm. Ran a 13.11 in the quarter mile at over 105 mph (2700 foot elevation). Also runs...

    LA heads on magnum block

That is exactly what I am worried will happen. I'm thinking I will just bite the bullet and buy some magnum heads. I will be better off in the long run.

    LA heads on magnum block

Certainly would be the best thing to do. Just not a huge market for mopar stuff in this area and cast iron heads are so heavy to ship!

    LA heads on magnum block

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking I might try putting a tee on the oil pressure sending hole and run lines from there, through the valve covers and to the end of each rocker shaft. I'm a little worried about sealing where the lines go through the valve covers.

    LA heads on magnum block

Has anybody successfully used LA heads on a magnum block using only oil through lifters/pushrods and stock LA valve gear? I know this is not the best way of doing things but I bought a rebuilt 360 magnum short block (not drilled for shaft oiling) on craigslist a while ago and I have a nice...

Building a set of W2 heads

I have a full set of Ferrea 2.08 intake and 1.6 exhaust valves used for a few 1/4 mile runs, all 5.3 inch length with 11/32 stems. My W2 castings turned out to be junk. Also comp beehive springs, Ti retainers, and locks. Let me know if you are interested. I am located in Idaho.

    W2 Rocker Question

I'm thinking that I may be better off to sell what I can of the W2 setup. It is going to cost less to just start over with a standard head configuration.

    W2 Rocker Question

They are the race version. Thanks for the replies.

    W2 Rocker Question

Long story short, I bought a set of vintage "ready to run" W2 heads with all the best parts including Crane rockers. After a few 1/4 mile runs I noticed that it was using a lot of water. After taking everything apart I found a hole or crack between the water jacket and one intake port that had...

    Water pump hose block-off

I tapped both of mine with a harbor freight tap (I think I paid about ten bucks for the set) and threaded in pipe plugs. I think the heater hose is 1/4 inch NPT and the bypass hose is 1/2 inch NPT. No leakage or cracking problems so far. One season in my race car.

    Mopar performance head gaskets

They were ordered from Summit. I think that Mopar performance is just relabeling the Fel pro gaskets and selling them as their own. Unless somebody returned a set of Fel pros to Summit and they accidentally resold them to me?

    Mopar performance head gaskets

I ordered Mopar performance head gaskets part number P4120093. Advertised as having a bore of 4.06 and compressed thickness of 0.04 - what I got are Fel pro 8553PT gaskets in a Mopar box! These have a bore closer to 4.2 and a compressed thickness of about 0.05 - no better than what came in my...

318/XE262/#302 heads and what stall converter/rear end

I have almost the exact same combo in my 73 Scamp. My converter stalls at about 2500. I have 3.91 gears. The gears are great at the strip and stoplight to stoplight but it revs pretty high at freeway speeds. I do have a little bit of a lope at idle but it sounds good.

    Anybody run a Comp 20-222-3?

I have one in my daily driver Scamp. Stock 318 short block with 302 heads. Mild converter with 3.91 gears (more gear than I need for this cam). Runs great with a mild lope at idle. I'm happy with it.
