If you can hear the fan running--like a B-17 on a take-off roll-- you should check the radiator. Cool spots will indicate low flow which basically means it is plugged. A infrared thermomter will point a plugged radiator real quick.

You definetely need a shroud !!!! Air takes the path of the least resistance. Without a shroud, usually the air at the ends of the fan blades will get pulled. And it does not go through the rad. There is the problem. Standard rad, standard water pump, no shroud, no clutch fan, etc. At an idle, you have low water flow and little air flow.

Maybe somebody with a LA boat engine might be able to use some parts??

Get rid of the junky 440 Source housing and pump !!
