    Serious bump steer

Needs a front end do-over,esp the idler arm. Watch it at 30 secs. The right tire starts to rock back and forth but the left tie rod is still stationary at that point.

    Secured to your trailer

John, you have a good eye. But that hole is made for an outbound pull. If I used the T-Hook, it would not stay in the slot . There is another T-Hook slot behind the suspension designed for an inbound pull and I would have the same problem. The slot is pointed in the wrong direction. So I used...

    Secured to your trailer

Being in the car hauling business for over 25 years I use regular car carrier chains and winches on my trailer. I try to do an outbound (A) pull if possible. I have seen guys that do an inbound (V) pull and have actually bent frames on pick-up trucks. You need to keep a small (fore and aft)...

took the 4 speed to the track

OUCH... Run 7.50X13 tires on it, you'll never break any driveline componets. That thing is almost as quick as my Honda CBR 1100XX. I get better mileage but you have a neater vehicle!

    440 clearance issue

My late buddy put a Long Ram 440 in his 70. Of course, I believe that he moved the engine down and forward a bit. Rear side of left intake cleared master cylinder by 1/8th inch.

    acceleration put into perspective

One and 1/2 gallons of fuel per second during the run. 10 to 12 gallons from burn-out till end of track. And in the run against the 200 mph Vette, the dragster would be going 130 mph faster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGTbQuhhluY&feature=related...

Signs of rust in Engine any Ideas

The moisture comes out of the ground and gets trapped under the car and/or tarp. Ever see farmers that cover the cultivated rows with plastic to keep the plants in moisture? Place some plastic on the ground overnight and in the morning turn it over and see how wet it is. Never park for more...

anybody smallblocked a d50? how about turbo'd one?

Marvin Hughes (The Hemi Man) had a D50 with (guess what?) a 66 Hemi in it. The whole front end was tube framed and even with the firewall cut out and the engine set back it was still a tight fit. It was also somewhat traction challenged.

    tie downs

Speaking as a professional new car hauler, crosstieing will get you in trouble if 1 of the chains/straps get loose or breaks. Then the other strap will pull the car to one side which will lose the tension on that strap and the whole end of the car will be loose. When you tie it down, make sure...

    Car Trailer Tires

Jefflock, Ever done donuts with your car?? Same thing but worse because of the heat generated by the spinning of the tire. Also, when you turn your car sharp on newer cement, check the rubber that the front tires leave on the ground. And my tires are Z-rated. What are trailer tires rated at?

    Car Trailer Tires

I run 15" Cooper Cobra 235/70/15 radial car tires on my car trailer. The only problem is the front tire finds nails and kick them up for the back tires. I replaced them after 5 years because of age. Gave them to a co-worker to put on his 70 SS Chevelle project/daily driver.

Not one john force comment ?

John is a #1 stand-up guy and quite a character. And for those uninformed, he drives a funny car with a replica of a Ford body powered by a 500 ci aftermarket version of a 426 Hemi. The only thing Ford on the car is the nameplate..sorta like a Nascar "stocker".

    fenderwell headers

Fenderwells...... look at how much structural metal is cut out of the car and you have to run skinny tires up front and they will usually rub. The structural issue can be circumvented by a cage but skinny tires are for drag strips only and still scary.
