Classic example of what happens when you simply add a rear sway bar to a Dart.... Compare the handling between a 69 Charger with just a front sway bar and a 71 with both front and rear bars. 69 Charger C&T 1969: Dodge Charger 500 Road Test - YouTube 71 Charger 1971...

New mech cam/not removing in spring tricks?

Yes, remove the inner springs for break-in. The reduced spring pressure will be insurance for a smooth break-in of the cam...less chance of scuffing and/or losing a lobe. The high spring pressure is needed for high lift and high rpms.

My Best Friend's 440 Long Ram Dart

Bill, It spent about 3 months outside under a cover while he built a new garage. Greazerlou, My friend used a standard width A-Body 8.75, relocated springs, mini-tubbed it and had Stockton make up some 15x12 with 7.75 inches of back spaceing which, from the side, made the wheel lock stock...

    Old HP magnum 383-440 cam???

EL5Demon, They did NOT fudge the numbers on the Hemi and the 340. Hemi was rated at 425@ 5000 rpm and that was about right. Of course, if you looked at the rest of the dyno sheet you would see that it made a bit more up around 6500 rpm. The 340 was rated the the same way.

Stock 400 2 bbl compression ratio

They were (theoretically) 8.2 to 1. That would be a perfect one where every tolerence was on the best side of perfect.

    H51 Police Interceptor 440?

Yep, it ain't no cop car. Not coded as one by serial number. Cop car would start off as DK41. No 140 mph certified speedo, 4 door hardtop, chrome wheels, etc, etc. Nice Polara though.

where can i get one of these?

8 1 barrel carbs will be a tuning nightmare. The airflow thru each carb at an idle is very, very small. On a 440, you would be feeding only 55 cubes and you have only 1 piston needing air once every 4 revolution of the motor. This is another reason why this set-up was not used except on a...

My Best Friend's 440 Long Ram Dart

She simply stated that she wanted to get it completed and going again and there were only 2 people that know how it goes back together, her late husband and me. I have known them since 1978 and he was my assistant fire chief back in the days. She would probably enjoy it more if I put a...

My Best Friend's 440 Long Ram Dart

ABODYJOE, He bought it from an elderly gentleman west of Ocala, Fl. It was a white with black vinyl top /6 PS AC car with the houndstooth interior. Low miles and 1 rust thru hole about 1/2 inch in the trunk. You could lift up the carpet and find nothing but white paint and carpet dust! He had...

My Best Friend's 440 Long Ram Dart

The car definitley ran good before he swapped in the coil-over suspension. 440 with .509 cam and the Long Rams meant instant power and tire smoke. The DOT legal slicks really helped but they still got overpowered at times. When Don Garlits and Dennis Gage were walking thru the show field...

My Best Friend's 440 Long Ram Dart

My best friend that passed away last year built this 70 Dart to be different. He had just swapped in the tubular k-frame and coil-overs when he suddenly passed. His wife asked me to finally finish the job. It will be a daunting task because the car has been untouched for 17 months and it did...

    HP Manifolds or Headers

The factory manifolds on a 69 440 Dart were so restrictive that a 340 car would take it. Classic case of constipation compared to B-Body manifolds, especially on the left bank.

Question for PA folks: Thru-the-fender exhaust legal?

I'm so glad that I live in Florida. My older brother who still lives in Ohio could not get plates for his Audi because it could not pass the dynamometer emissions test. Why??? .....because the dyno only had 1 set of rollers and he drove a Audi Quattro. It only took 4 months to get that mess...
