Who uses inline electric fuel pump, what brand, do you like it?

My 2¢, I ran a few (low pressure) electric fuel pumps before switching to a Sniper system with an in-tank pump. By far the quietest pump I ran was a Holley HP 125. I also understand that the carter pumps are relatively quiet. The noise from the popular diaphragm and vane-style pumps will...

    Lean condition under light acceleration

Update: I have a spare parts carb that I was using to chase the air bleed circuits (just to get a better idea of where the circuitry originated and terminated). The primary bleeds on my parts carb where smaller than the one in the car so I decided to swap them. The result a slight enriching...

    Lean condition under light acceleration

I wasn't really clear about this in my original post. I am on the edge of that surge with the current setup. It's getting just enough fuel that it's not completely falling on its face, but it wants to.

    Lean condition under light acceleration

Yeah, I think richening the cruise up will be a good place to start. From some past fiddling, I remember a failed attempt at using Edelbrock metering rods that yielded awesome part throttle power but choked at WOT. It would have been delivering more fuel than my current setup at part throttle.

    Lean condition under light acceleration

Hi All I am having this issue with a Thermoquad but assume that the method for addressing it is similar for any carb using metering rods. I have done some searching (maybe just not hitting the right keywords) and have not seen much on this topic. If there is a thread I have missed, please...

Thermoquad 1 3/8 center section on 1 1/2 throttle plate

Well, I went ahead and put everything back together with the 1 1/2 body/ throttle plate. This leaned things out a bunch. In fact enough that I had to go back to my original jets. I might need to up a size yet depending on how lean I can live with my light cruise being at (~15.0 at the moment).

Thermoquad 1 3/8 center section on 1 1/2 throttle plate

Hi All I have a Thermoquad (made from two parts carbs). When building the one good carb, I used the 1 1/2 throttle plate as it was in far better condition that the 1 3/8 plate. Not paying attention, I used the 1 3/8 bowl on this combination (Looking back at this, both carbs had miss-matched...

ThermoQuad Jet and Rod combo calculator/ visualizer

Update- Added Edelbrock metering rods and some other missing OE rods (95 unique rods on the list now). Also corrected some jet sizes and rod dimensions.

ThermoQuad Jet and Rod combo calculator/ visualizer

Hi All I put this jet/ rod calculator together to help me better figure what affect a given rod or jet change on a thermoquad may yield. Primary calculations are relative to the jet/rod area difference. I know it is common to substitute Edelbrock rods for "stock" metering rods, at this time I...

Looking For A Quiet Electric Fuel Pump

I just installed a Holley HP125 to replace a Red pump. It is QUIET!!! There is just a slight hum when the engine is off, when it's on you can't hear it. My red pump in the same location could be heard over the engine at all times. To be honest, I had little hope that the HP125 would be...

    Thermoquad float

Thanks, when I adjust the brass floats, I assume I measure to the top of the hump? High point of the float.

    Thermoquad float

Is this brass float built right? It seems like the hump on the brass float should face up towards the top plate. I have only ever delt with nitrophyl floats.

Thinking about going back to mechanical

Once it fired up and ran for a bit we shut it off, I can't remember why now. I checked the oil level mainly to make sure there was no sign of metal. The oil on the dipstick smelled of gas. The level was also up. When I pulled the pump off the inside of the housing was as clean as could be and...

Thinking about going back to mechanical

Hi All I have ran an electric fuel pump in my car since about 15 minutes after the engine was fired for the first time. The reason was that the mechanical pump that was on the engine had a faulty diaphragm and pumped about 1/2 gallon worth of gas into the engine. When this happened i figured...

Another electric fuel pump mounting thread

Ok so I had a cheapo pos solenoid style fuel pump on my car. I finally have decided to upgrade to a Holley red pump (no i am not worried about the noise). I have 2 questions 1. Why does the pump have to be mounted as low as possible. 2. Where are you guys mounting these pumps to...

    ThermoQuad 3/8 fuel inlet

Anyone using a 3/8 fuel inlet in stead of the 5/16 one? If so where did you get the parts from ex. Napa, Summit, tubes n hoses. I see I can get stuff on the internet but would really like to not have to pay shipping on a 4 dollar part. The carb side of the fitting is a 5/8 -20 with Banjo seal.

gas pump auto click off / overflow question

I have the same issue. I just make sure the little lock thing is on the stop that lets the least amount of fuel go through. Then I put my head down but the filler and listen to make sure its not filling to quickly. I'm sure i look like an idiot when I fill my car up but I don't have gas running...

    Electric Fuel pump

I am getting ready to install an electric fuel pump on my 74 duster. The instuctions for the pump strongly recomend a oil pressure shutoff switch. I guess this is so if the car stops running while the igniton is on the fuel pump will shut off. Is it worth it and what do you do about your stock...
