    Big Block Weight Differences

Good morning all! I am just building an aluminum headed low deck to replace my old iron headed 440. Old engine was a 440 with iron heads, new engine is a low deck 451 with aluminum heads. Anyone have a rough idea on what the weight difference might be between the two? Thanks!

    Budget Aluminum Heads

So I have decided to build my next engine. It will be a budget OG stroker - 400 block, 440 steel crank turned down to fit, Eagle H beam rods and Silvolite forged pistons. It will have a flat tappet solid cam in the .550 lift range and I would like to run it on pump premium as I drag and drive...

    Cam & Timing Set Questions

Two quick questions. I know we are all aware of the cam failure issue over the last 20 or 25 years. I personally had a mopar 509 cam go flat 15 years ago and blame myself, it definitely was an oil issue (lack of zinc) on my part. Mine was a hydraulic flat tappet, and it seems that every cam...

    Big Block Advice Needed

OK guys, not an A body but I want to make my 49 Plymouth gasser a little quicker, on a budget LOL. Think cam and intake change. I would like to pick up a half second in the 1/4 if I could. I built this car, a rat rod / gasser through covid and had it on the road for the first time this summer...

    Engle Roller Cam ID

Can anyone help to decode what the original cam specs were for this old Engle BB solid roller cam? It looks to me like it says JR82/EX3, then an H, and then 108 12 A 0 Thanks!

    Push rod question

I had a conversation today with a freind who told me that older mopar pushrods (pre magnum) are solid. I know the ends are and that there is no oiling through them, but always assumed that they were hollow. Has anyone ever cut one open? How much cam and valve spring will stock rods stand up to?

    Budget 440 build question

I am just in the process of doing an RB conversion to the 55 in my signature picture. I want to have this car running soon.....my son is using it for his high school grad so I need to get going. Here is what I have done so far, install a Ford 8.8 with 3.73 trac lock, 4 wheel disc brake...

    Lifter and cam question

A couple of quick questions..... I had always thought that small and big block hydraulic flat tappet lifters were the same......but in doing some research I see some manufacturers have different part numbers for big / small block, yet others show the same litter for both......what gives? I...

    Factory 67-69 440 cast intake

I have recently come into a factory 440 square bore intake with a 1968 cast date, casting number 2806178. Is there any value in this intake to the restoration crowd, is it worth me hanging onto to try and sell, or should it go into my scrap pile? Just wondering...I dont have the luxury of...
