I had a conversation today with a freind who told me that older mopar pushrods (pre magnum) are solid. I know the ends are and that there is no oiling through them, but always assumed that they were hollow. Has anyone ever cut one open? How much cam and valve spring will stock rods stand up to?

Not solid.

Jake
the stock pushrods out of the 1967 440 Chrysler egine that I built my 505" wedge out of, were all soild 5/16 pushrods. I kept one or two of them for mild punches. it`s no wonder the valves would float so quick on stock mopar engines, at least my new 440 and 283 did-back in the day. Oh yea, I did cut a couple up and make a crude pushrod length checker out of them.
