Losing switched power and other #$%&^# electrical issues. HELP!

I need some help. My 73 Dart Sport, 408 stroker / 200 4R, has been running great for 6 years. A month or so I came home from a car show and it would not shut off. Key turned off, key in hand, but it stayed running. I didn't notice it before, but I drove it a week later and noticed it wasn't...

    Car won't shut off

I have a 73 Dart Sport 408 with MSD 6AL-2 programmable ignition. As in every year I drive this car to Mopars in the Park, something breaks. This year I got home, turned off the key, and the engine kept running. I had to pull the ignition fuse to shut off the car. I couldn't look into it right...

Need help gaining access to ignition switch

I need a new ignition switch, and while I'm at it, I have an ignition lock cylinder that matches my for keys I am going to put in. I am having trouble getting the middle section off the column. I thought there was a bearing around the shaft that would slide off with a little persuasion, but the...

Anyone able to ID this distributor?

I ran across this at a swap meet. I was looking for a billet distributor with no vacuum advance for my 440 build. I plan on using the old MSD 6AL-2 out of the Dart with it. My brother tells me it's an Accel. Anyone know what model in case I need new springs or parts?

Still trying to map out a timing curve

If anyone has an MSD 6AL-2 programmable, I need help with plotting timing curves. Or if you are knowledgeable enough to throw out some advice, that will help as well. I have a 408 stroker with 11.8:1 compression, Comp Cam 242/248 Dur@ .050, .3660/.3630 lift @ .050, 112° lobe sep. 549/544 gross...

Programming MSD - when should timing be all in?

I am playing with timing curves for my programmable MSD-6AL-2. I am running my start up timing lower - around 14 degrees. I ramp it up for idle to around 19 degrees, then I am setting all in around 2800 rpm. Any better ideas? Any thoughts or suggestions for when to kick into all in? I'm running...

    Timing curves - any ideas?

I haven't installed it yet, but I did buy the new MSD 6AL-2 programmable ignition. MSD has instructions on how to lock out my mechanical advance on my Pro Billet distributor, so I will lock that down at 40 degrees. I will play with the initial timing, but I am expecting it to be around 18-19...

    It's here! C'mon spring!

It finally arrived. My new MSD 6AL-2 programmable ignition. If it ever gets above zero here, I'm going to pull my dizzy and lock it down and install this baby. In the meantime I think I'll research a bunch of timing curves and set some base programs into my laptop.

Pic of my new MSD 6AL-2 ignition box

I know it doesn't look like your average MSD box, but believe me, this is it. I have tossed around the programmable ignition box and the E-curve distributor, but I decided to go with the box. Much more programmable and easier to set and play with. And cheaper. Now when I change between 93 octane...

Anyone tried an MSD E Curve distributor?

I was going to buy a new MSD 6AL2 programmable to let me play with timing. My brother has one and I like the idea of it. I was all set to order it today when my carb guy says he uses the MSD E Curve distributor on his 340 and 360. Three wires, adjustable timing curves, and no need for an MSD...

Anyone using a programmable MSD box?

I have a MSD-6 ignition set up with a MSD Pro billet distributor. I have absolutely no complaints and it works very well. I am very interested in the adjustability of a programmable MSD set up. Would it be worth my while? I am more interested in the timing adjustments than anything. I change...

Is there such a thing as a low RPM alternator

Like most of us, my Dart voltage drops below 12 volts at idle, but runs 14-15 at cruising speed. is there such a thing as an alternator that is designed to work at full capacity at lower rpms, or is there something else I can do? I do not use the factory ammeter. I disconnected it and connected...

Daniel Stern lighting relays - sweet!

I wish I took photos, but I wanted to drive the car tonight so I was in a hurry to install the kit. I ordered a headlamp relay wiring harness from Daniel Stern. I was having a problem with my lights turning on and off when I drove home at 3am and they always got brighter on higher revs and...

Headlight flash on and off by themselves

Okay, I saw a thread with a different issue that evolved into my exact problem and the thought was a new headlight switch would fix it. I have a new switch and am going to change it, but here is what I have and what I noticed. Also, just for the record, I am running Hella Vision Plus conversion...

Turn signals activate horn ... sometimes

I have a 73 Dart Sport. I just got it and it had some issues. The steering wheel was delaminating and the wood was moving under my hands, there was no horn at all and the wire was just sticking out of the wheel hub because the horn kit was missing, and the turn signals wouldn't cancel. I bought...
