I get a little puddle occasionally after I put gas in. I never top it off. Any suggestions??

back under the tank. I just filled it up Sunday before taking it out for a spin. I have it stored in a collector car facility and they called me today to say it leaked about a gallon of gas?? Could I have over filled it? It did drop some fuel at the gas station.
