    Let's talk backspacing

Here is a drawing I made of the measurements taken on Aaron's '74 Duster project we are building. This is a stock '69 B-body 8-3/4" rearend (not narrowed and perches not moved in), with American Racing Torque Thrust II 15"x8" rims and 235-60R15 BF Goodrich T/A Radial tires. The goal is to...

    How much clearance is enough?

With wider-than-stock tires, how much clearance do you guys have between the back of the tire and the edge of the leaf springs? Would 1/2" clearance be enough to compensate for roll during cornering?

Still looking for a spare tire

We still haven't been able to find a wheel/tire combination to fit down into the spare tire well of Aaron's Dart Sport. We have the fiberboard tire cover and trunk mat, and want them to lie flat. He has 235-60 R15 in back and 205-60 R15 in front. By my calculations, the back is 26.10" tall...

How does the jack and stand stow away?

I have a large spring that apparently is used to hold the jack in place. I just can't figure out what it hooks to on the jack. Can someone send me a pic or two that shows how the jack, jack stand, and lug wrench stow away in Aaron's Dart Sport? Thanks, Jerry

I've had enough of this wheel/tire nonsense!

I've been trying for a while to make a final decision on the wheel/tire combination for my son's '74 Dart Sport. Thought we might go with American Racing Torq Thrust II 15x8 rear and 15x6 front (large bolt pattern). Their website application guide only recommends 15x7 as widest wheel for his...

Backspacing still doesn't make sense to me.

I've been following several threads about how large a tire can be. I've also read from numerous sources on how to take measurements for determining backspacing. It still doesn't make sense to me. When reading about it, it all sounds so simple. I pulled a rear tire off my son's car to begin...
