I wish someone reproduced the .020 Steel LA 340 Head Gaskets. Like a dummy I put KB flat top pistons with 65cc Eddy heads. I should have at least used 63cc Eddys. I'd like to bump up my compression a bit more. Running Felpro 1008 .039 compressed right now. Really don't want to mill the heads as I may re use them for a 360/408 stroker build down the road.

No need to worry about it. You are already in a range where you don't have to worry about losing that half a point in compression. If anything, that is going to keep you in a good safer range.

I've been using them for years, and can honestly say I've never had a failure with them.
I always take those reviews with a grain of salt, as you never know what kind of prep was put into the surfaces. I would venture to bet that the majority of "failures" were due to just that- improper/inadequate surface prep. Thicker gaskets are more forgiving, thinner ones (regardless of material) require you to be more thorough.
You may have a point with using them on the aluminum Eddies (I mostly work with iron heads), although I don't think I'd run a factory-type steel gasket on aluminum heads either; even if they were still avaiable.

Funny, I thought the same, but I really appreciate your input. I have been playing with 273 head gaskets for myself and another person, and I have come to the conclusion that the bore means very little and thickness means more as long as the gaskets seal combustion, oil, and coolant.
 
My 340 is bored .010 over. Bore is 4.060. Not sure what size I should go with. I do see .080 ?

Right side and requires block or heads to be machined for o-ring.

My 340 had steel .020 gaskets on it when I tore it down. PO did a valve job at 100 K miles then I put 100K on it. 200K motor no issues with them.
 
I just received a set of Cometic gaskets 4.100 bore, .023 thick. Part number H2595SP2023S. Rather pricey at 118.26 per side. I got this by contacting them directly through an engineer and ordering directly from customer support. First class from both departments on answering questions and setting up the order.

What's your bore size and are you running alum. heads or cast? Would the 4.100 bore size gasket work with my 4.060 bore size?

It as 4.070 with aluminum heads. A recommendation of .030-.060 over bore size should be good. I have ran a tighter fit, .020 and have not had an issue to date. It also would depend on piston -/+ out of bore for obvious interference.
