I'm looking for wheels for a '71 Duster with the offset spring kit. Found a 15 X 8 wheel for the rear but it only has 3.5" back spacing. Will it work? I know 4.5"+ is preferred but the price is right. Opinions, criticisms, etc?

Seems to me that kinda negates moving the springs. The whole purpose there is so you can get more tire and wheel on the inside. I wouldn't care if they were free. I'd want something with more backspacing. Have you measured your car for room?

If you want the tire inside the quarter it won’t work at all.
If you want to run it with lift springs so the quarter is several inches above the top of the tire and the tire hangs out ‘70’s street freak style then it won’t rub.

The wheels I want are Billet Specialties Street Lites. They are freaking sky high priced! Thought I could get away with 3.5" back spacing. If I measured correctly, the distance from the leaf springs to wheel mounting surface is about 6.25". I found a pair with 5.5" bs but it's tough to pay $500 for one wheel.
Right, the problem is that with an 8" wheel and 3.5" of backspace you're going to have 5.5" of front space from the WMS.
Are you running a SBP A-body 8 3/4? Or BBP? And you have a 1/2" spring offset yes?
I ask because your WMS to spring measurement number is more like what it should be for a SBP axle flange. So either your SBP, which helps your cause with lower backspace wheels, or you're BBP and your measurement is off.

I actually have a narrowed 9.25 with 8.75 ends and BBP with offset spring kit. I was gonna get the Jegs/Summit Weld knockoffs but there is no 15 X 7 with 4.5" bs.

I have two pair of vintage Americans, 15x8.5, with 3 1/2 bs. They won't fit anything I own.

I shouldn't have said narrowed 9.25. It was a truck axle that was "narrowed" to stock length A Body. I currently have 15 X 7 cop wheels front & rear. P22560R15 front, P27560R15 rear.

Pull one of your rears off, and measure the backspace. If it's typically 4.25 for a steel 15x7, those 15x8 with 3.5 bs will move whatever tire you put on them at least two inches closer to the fender.

Theoretically your 15x7 steel cop wheels are 7 1/2 overall width (the 7" is from bead to bead). With 4 1/4 bs, that means 3 1/4 to the outside.
If those 15x8s are aluminum, they'll be 9" wide overall. With 3 1/2 bs, that means 5 1/2 to the outside. So....the tire will be 2 1/4 inches closer to the fender.
(This assumes the backspace on your steelies, and construction of the 15x8. Your actual numbers may vary).

I think I'll stick with what I know works. Those Street Lites look so killer on a Duster! I may just take RustyRatRod's advice to buy once and cry once. Lol.
Would a 15 X 6 with 3.5" bs work on the front with a P22560R15?

Again, ASSUMING your 15x7 steels are 4 1/4 bs, that makes 3 1/4 to the outside.
15x6 aluminum, 7" overall width, 3 1/2 bs would be zero offset, and 3 1/2 to the outside.
So, THEORETICALLY, if my figures for your steelies are,correct..... the 15x6 will be 1/4" closer to the fender.
Not likely assuming we're talking BBP disks on the front.
225/60/15 on a 15x7 with 4.25" of backspace is already right on the fender. It would be ride height dependent, and I can say having run 225/60/15's on 15x7" cop wheels on my Duster I didn't have any room to give up.

I just put a disc conversion on my 67 barracuda that had disc on it before but were shot , now the problem I have is torq thrust wheels 14x7 with 4.5 back space if I'm measuring right and they will not fit when I tighten them , I'm guessing the bs is too much but I want to put 15 in on the rear with 8.75 rearend and 4.5 wheel lugs , what model wheels do you have , might they fit what I have , the rear is drum

I'm not interested in selling my wheels, the shipping hassle isn't worth it. But, if you can tell how you measure your backspace, what tires are on the wheels, and why they don't fit, we can maybe help.

I put a question on the forum but it's the front that don't fit the disc brakes I measured it from the back and got 4.5 in but I guess it should be from the front which I have to check again but it looked like 3 or 3.5
