Here's a quick comparison.
I ran 245/60/14's in my '67 before I had my narrowed 8 3/4 with an offset spring kit and they were the widest tire I could get in there without rubbing. I now run 275/50/15's and they're awesome.
I believe in this case with a stock rear end, spring placement and wheel openings, width will be your limiting factor without any modification.

I just did it .... ONLY thing different from your wheels and mine... i have sbp 15X7 .... and my off set if 4 1/2.... I have NO issues with 255-60-15... I think you MIGHT/MAYBE have issues with ONLY a 4 inch back space.... MINIMUM 4.25 backspace to make these tires work ... I don't think 275-60-15 will work unless you alter spring location ... hope this helps

This is what you need to do ... go to a Discount tire or equivalent tire place and request a worn out used tire of your choice .... have them mount it on your rim and try it ... I am NOT sure what will work with 4 inch back space ....

4.5 backspace will gurantee 255-60-15 working on STOCK 8 3/4 setup ... attach photos once you get them installed ...

With 15x7 and 4 inch backspace my 225-60-15 are very close to the lip and will be getting rid of them.
That is with a factory spec a body 8 3/4

Wheels went back! Now where can I find or have made Steel Wheels 15X7 w the 4.5 BS?

I know they will build them @ stockton wheel but $155ea plus shipping and unfinished? anywhere else to get them or anybody have a set laying around?

TIA

Are you running small bolt pattern original axles? Including original axle re-drilled for LBP?

OR aftermarket or shortened large bolt pattern axles?

With small bolt original axles, I've run 4.25" backspace rallyes with 245/60/15 on my 68 Dart. Close on inside and outside with a very low leaf spring worn out rear end.

LBP aftermarket/shortened axles move the axle flange out 1/4" or so. Then you will need 4.5 backspacing.

I'll add to these questions, which front brake are you using. With the 75 BBP disk brake setup I've tried a 255/60-15 (does not work), 235/60-15 (works with fenders adjusted outwards), 205/60-15 (no problems at all). The first two were attempted using 15x7 cop car wheels, the latter with 15x7 Magnum 500s. All wheels 4¼ inch back spacing.

At the rear, the 255/60-15s were less than ¼ inch from the leaf spring. The other two fit with no problem at all. The axle was an A-body 7¼ BBP.

Hope this is helpful.

STOCKTON .. only place i know.... YES expensive ... Too bad you want 15 inch .. i have 14 inch stocktons done and will fit 245-60-14 tires no problem...
