170 slant six vacuum advanc replace

Have a 65 valiant 170 that I am replacing and bad vacuum canister on the dist, the replacement is more coned shaped then the one that came off and the new one has 7.5x stamped in it vs. the original 6.5x, will this make a difference or will this work? Also what is the 6.5 or 7.5 mean? thanks any and all info is appreciated

6.5 means 13 degrees vacuum advance. Distributor turns twice per 360 degree rotation of the crank, so 7.5= 15. It should work, might need to tweak the total a touch. Only 2 degree difference.
