Hi fellow A-body enthusiasts,

I'm currently looking to buy a 1964 or 1965 Valiant convertible, and hoping that somebody here may be able to help.

My main requirements are:
- Clear title
- No rust, no or minimal filler, no major dents
- Car must be running
- Automatic transmission
- Must have been originally a power top car (power mechanism does not have to be in working condition)
- Must be essentially standard - no significant changes beyond factory options (issues with Australian import laws) - things like paint color, wheels and accessories are not considered significant
- No air conditioner (again, issues with Australian import laws)

Paint and interior condition is not particularly important as long as all the convertible-specific hard parts (other than power top cylinders and motor) are present and in usable condition.

It doesn't matter if it is a 273 or slant-six. I don't care if the numbers match.

Ideally I am looking for a good daily-driver or an older restoration, but will consider any car that fits the minimum requirements above.

If anyone knows of a suitable car for sale, can they please PM me or reply here with details. If you are the seller please include photos of the car.

Good choice on a car! I will keep my eyes peeled! I have a 65 Valiant convertible that is 98% ready for the road (no, it's not for sale)!

Thanks bamacuda.

I've wanted one of these for quite a few years, and with the exchange rates in my favor, now is the time to buy, if I can find the right car at the right price. It doesn't have to be super-nice, but ideally good enough to pass registration without too much trouble.

Hi Folks,

Still looking.

Anyone out there got anything that might be suitable?

I have a 64 Valiant ragtop, it's berry metallic red (burgundy?) with cragars and a mid 80's rebuilt 318. Push button auto, power top, no p.s. It's about a twelve year old restoration (before I had car) that's showing it's age a little. I call it a 20 footer, looks nice going down the road but could use some refinishing, there's some mud or fiberglass in left rear quarter. To much info? They redid the interior in a tweed two tone burgundy and grey color, I wouldn't have done that but it actually looks good with car. I would like to get $10,900 for car, not sure if that's what your looking for. I'm willing to listen to offers. I'm getting the car ready for sale at CarCraft in St Paul, MN on July 22-24, but what the heck I'll put it out there now. I'll see if I can get some pictures in here for you. Mark

Thanks Mark, that's a nice car, but it's not suitable for my needs - the fact that it's running a 318 (not standard for that year) means I will not be able to get an import approval for it.

Boy, they are fussy aren't they! I hadn't been on the forum for a couple of weeks and saw your request I thought what the heck. My plan was to get the car fix a few things on it and sell it. I've been having so much fun with it that I've hardly driven my 68 Dart GT. But, finances dictate that I should sell it sometime, just not sure when that sometime will be! :) Best of luck in your search. Mark
p.s. Anyone out there looking for a 64 ragtop, give me a holler.

Yes they are, but that's government bureaucracy for you.

I can install just about any engine I want (within reason) once it is here, but it must be essentially stock when it arrives in the country. I'm beginning to think I should just find a standard-specification project car that's basicly complete and structurally good, and build it up to the standard I want from there. I can always live with the rat-look for a while.

Good luck with finding a buyer for your car Mark.

Regards,

Brad
