I have a couple quick questions guys...

Are the boxes in the floorboard with the little doors/latches simply called floor vents? Or are they heater boxes?

In my old 66 Fury I had cables under the steering wheel to let in outside air here and they were labeled vent. In this Valiant I manually have to turn a latch and open a little door.

On the driver's side the top hinge is attached and the bottom rusted through and broke. Door is OKAY as long as I leave it shut... I always loved floor vents in these old cars and want to use it, but I dont want to break it completely off. Looks like the hinge was cast on though, so im wondering, are these boxes impossible to find?

Should I just leave it alone? At least set my terminology straight here!

Any other ideas? Are these a pain to remove? I suppose I could take it out, nerf the rust, and attempt to solder it or spot weld?

Anyway, thanks in advance guys!
