Ok I'm at a lost..... I just did a tune up and only replaced plugs wires distributer cap. I did not replace the points only because I put new points in about a week ago. Before I did this it started fine no issues. Now with new plugs and wires and cap... Ummmm no start.... I checked the fireing order 6 times and I'm good there. I even went as far as putting all the old plugs and wires and cap back on... Still no start I'm at a total loss any ideas :banghead::banghead::banghead:please help!!!!!

First step, grab the #1 spark plug wire, attach it to the old spark plug and hold it by the boot so the threads touch the engine block. Have a friend crank it and see if you have any spark at all. This can and will shock the crap out of you, so wear heavy gloves and hold it with well insulated pliers. That will at least tell you if you're troubleshooting an electrical or fuel issue. Google "how to check for spark" if this didn't make any sense to you, most of the videos are for lawnmowers, but same idea.

If you have spark, beg/borrow/steal a timing light and check the timing while cranking, to make sure you have spark at the right part of the engine rotation. If you're firing at the right time, you have a fuel problem.

If you still have no spark, you probably have a bad ballast resistor. There are smarter folks than me who have documented how to chase down that turd.

Hahaha didn't forget the rotor..... It ran fine till I decided to do a tune up.

Ok I have spark..... I tried to see if I'm getting it at the right point with the timing plight but I can tell....

Well started over with pulling the distributor. Got TDC... Hooked everything back up and vroooom. Runs beautiful thanks guys. Not sure what whappened there but 5 hours of trying to figure it out.... What a wast of cruse time.... Till next time....
