well, I had money saved up for my dart to get media blasted but I did my usual craigslist search and found something I was interested in about 30 min away.

what I found was a 1968 barracuda fastback 318 auto car.

I went and looked at it and it comes with fenders, hood, all suspension parts,v8 k frame, disc brake conversion, new torsion bars, new sway bars and the org. 318 2brl engine.

THE STORY:

The story of the car is that it was a Minnesota car that he bought running and driving and he took it apart for a "rebuild" he sanded the engine bay and right quarter to bare metal and he took the engine, and front suspension out.
he then lost his job and storage in Minnesota and he brought it back to his parents house in vt and it then sat and over time he had two kids and he put it up for sale.

all the int. is complete and it has a 7 1/4 rear.

PLANS:

my plans for this car is not a full resto like my dart but a driver that you dont have to worry about driving.

my plans are to keep it as cheap as possible but having it look very nice. The plans are that i am going to keep the org. 318 and re gasket it,clean it up ,paint it ect and put a 4 brl intake and carb and electronic ignition and thats it. im going to try to keep this as stock as it can be.

paint: the plans for paint is put a 1/2 quarter on the right side and paint the car a bright white with a red or maroon (dual bottom stripe).

int. the int is in very good condition and my plans for it is to keep it white and red but clean it up and maybe get the seats redone if need be. also a headliner and rug

driveline: my plans for the suspension and driveline is to keep the stock 7 1/4 with stock gears and new rear brakes. the front suspension is going to get new disc brakes with a new front end rebuild kit from pst and front sway bar

I will be picking the car up one day this week or saturday as i just bought it yesterday.

This winter I will be doing all the component resto as my dart is going to be put away for the winter. resto on front suspension, rear suspension, engine, ect, ect the car will be media blasted on the parts that are bare metal and that will be primed before winter

I will get better pics once we get it out.:D:burnout:

Man I so hate you! Just kidding great deal. I spent the day working on my 67 trying to finish welding in floor pans. Removed rear valance to replace it as it was damaged and found the right quarter is more bondo then steel. Have to replace trunk extensions on both sides. No such thing as a quick resto Lol. Good Luck with your new toy.

Score...there are advantages to being a kid, maybe the seller gave you a break on the price for that reason. Congrats and looking forward to seeing it come together.

nevermind, I just looked at it when I got home and I saw a switch that says rear air so know I know my car had air

Nope, that's a door vent. rear air should be in the rear panels, next to the back window.

ok, so I sanded the right quarter,2 fenders, trunk lid and various other parts of the car and i was thinking about selling it because it was rougher than i wanted but decided that I wont and i will continue on my plan.

Things I got done:

1:sanded all the bare metal pieces and primed

2:scrubbed all the int. down of all the mold and blew it out.

3: threw together the front end with the small brakes and bolted it up to the car so it is now rolling.

4:bolted the fenders, hood and header panel on( I do have the other grille in great cond.)

5. went and picked up the 318 from the owner and got it home, took the valve covers off and there were a whole bunch of small little tan balls in laying on the head. they looked like plastic and sounded light plastic but when we stepped on one a whole bunch of yellow stuff went flying from it. egg? does anybody have any idea what these could be??

I will now be keeping a budget.

car:$1,250 with mopar mags
primer:$ $40
susP bolts $20

TOTAL: $1,310 :burnout:
