Hello out there! I have a 68 Barracuda small block with a power steering pump that needs to be replaced. I am having a hard time finding a rebuilt pump. I fine plenty of listings for 1969-1972 pumps but not for the 1968. Does anyone know what is the difference if any between 1968 and later pumps? Or would it be possible to use a pump from a different year model? Thanks to all for the help.

I believe the 68 pumps are made by federal, and not as common as the 69 and newer saginaw pumps

Post a pic of your pump.

You can swap but it can turn into a mess if you don’t get all the right parts.

Check with:
Firmfeel.com and Steerandgear.com for rebuild services

Thompson (TRW), Federal and Saginaw were all used on Mopars. Saginaw is the best as it is quieter, more consistent and less leak prone. Different mounting brackets can be had from Bouchillonperformance.com

I'm assuming you have a cast iron water pump. If so, I have the pump and the bracket in stock, but this is to convert to a Saginaw. However, to do this, you need a unique pulley that isn't reproduced. If you want to maintain the federal pump, I a good used one in stock. PM me.
