69 dart rebuild going on here.... i want to refurbish my headrests as i am having my buckets recovered in Legendary vinyl. I plan to spray the headrests with the plastic spray paint, one has a crack i need to patch.
The big question is.....how is the chrome band fastened onto the headrest ? Is it glued on from the factory or is it molded on somehow.
I was going to buy some new bands from legendary for $50 but im not sure if it clips on or sticks on with tape. I found a guy on ebay selling some stick on stuff for half the price.
 
stick-on I believe were on mine from the factory. I put the cheaper ones from ebay on over a year ago and have not had a problem with them staying in place.
 
Just got an idea.........mask off the rest of the headrest and paint the band with chrome paint !!!!!
 
...how do you remove the headrests? I can't seem to find any clips or anything, and they don't seem to just lift off (?)
 
could not remove mine without tearing the headrest vinyl.
..yes,mask chrome and paint.
