Any idea what this metal tag was attached to and what the letters/numbers mean?

I may be going out on a limb but I have seen them attached to the seat frame, normally on the springs of the seat.

The 7 digit number is the part number for the seat frame.

9 9 68 is the date code, early 1969 model year.

yes on top right under the seat back you can see the double seam from the seat cover I tried to document everything I do to the car not only be informational but to show my achievements and digital photos are cheap!

I tied it under the bucket seat for future archaeologists to ponder its meaning.
