1969 Dodge Dart - With the Instrument Cluster Out, Should the Car be able to Start?

I took the instrument cluster out to do some work on it and then tried to start the car. All dead. I was hoping to leave the instrument panel out to drive over to the paint shop to have the dashboard painted.

All of the par for the car goes through the alternator gauge. With this disconnected you won't be able to do anything. the good news is all you have to do is connect the two wires together and you should be good to go.

Just make sure they don’t touch any metal or you may have a fire on your hands! Insulate well.

Yes. Jump the ammeter connections, but dont let them touch any metal.

I figured it went without saying but YES tape up the wires well.
