Going to build myself a Duster………how hard can it be?
You forgot about the Carbon Fiber itchy tax! Nothing worse than CF itchy!
Is this something you will be selling?Making progress on the carbon fiber housing.
Long story-long, not really. I don’t make pretty CF things, everything I make is painted and has a bit of body work to it. Also, my molds are single use only because of the straight draft of the housing makes it almost impossible to get the part out of the mold without destroying the molds. Because my 3D printer is not huge, it takes making an 11 piece mold just for the base and another 11 piece mold for the lid. Each piece of the mold takes 16ish hours to print. So again long explanation, but not really. I will probably have 150 hours in it and $200-$300 in materials. Now a bunch of that was drawing it in CAD. I have ulterior motives to make this one. (I want 9’s from him) The thermoquad insert, sure, just need to make sure it fits to the transition of your current base. My AVS insert was good for 5-8 hp, did slap the air door open much quicker and it went a full point leaner. So had to add a bunch of fuel. Not sure what the Thermoquad one will do. In the end, the part would be hideously expensive to make it viable and I don’t mind screwing Brian, but regular people, not so much. Actually if you can 3d print, all the molds are public access in Onshape. I use the free version, so it is open access. Then watch videos to learn CF, not that difficult. Sorry such a long winded answer. Anyone interested in CF or printing molds. Reach out to me, it is NOT hard to do or does it require a big investment. $130 for a HF a/c vacuum pump and $180 3d printer and CF is $25 a yard x 50”. I’ll answer any question I can. It is not hard!Is this something you will be selling?
