Without taking the old one off yet, could you helpful guys tell me what size the rubber hose is that runs between the water pump and the head, and is roughly 3.5 inches long? Thank you, Mike

That would be called a bypass hose.
5/8" heater hose is the size.

Thanks Johnny! Someone told me that they thought it could even be 3/4 perhaps.
Just getting started cleaning up this '70 Dart that I picked up July 4th weekend in Philly area that has been in the same family it's entire life. 56,000+ original miles. Replacing all the dry rotted hoses!
