This a correct numbers matching plum crazy purple Swinger 340. Currentlly running and driving California registered car. Correct and orignal 340, 727 auto trans and 8 3/4 sure grip rear end . 99% rust free. Only spot I see is the passenger rear quarter abouth the size of a dime. All correct under the hood including original matching number 340 with its original equipment.I have 15 years of registration from the original owner including reciepts from the 1980's when at different times he replaced the alternator, resistor and water pump. Car has original paint with primer spots on car. The black vinal top was removed by original owner sometime in the 80's . The seats were recovered around that same time to. Also it appears the fuel tank was changed. The car was last registered in 1993 this would probably account for this. THe engine appears to have new freeze plugs and fresher paint. I do not have the history on what work was done the only thing I know is that it runs good. Car is 100% complete with some spares included. Only 14% of all swingers built in 1970 were purple. With half being auto and half of those being auto on the floor so it makes this one of 350 or less built . Body as you can see in the pictures has dents and dings from years of use. This is a great car for restoration as it is complete, original and nearly 100% rust free. Has original blue plates. I am trying to be completely honest about the car . I do have additional pictures upon request. The car is available to be looked at if scheduled. 10,000.00 abo Jeff

That fender tag pic had me excited for a minute. I thought I had found Dad's old Swinger. His vin ended 319450. Had to look it up to make sure. Good luck with the sale, but I would keep it if I were you.

buy it for 10k
put a 2-3 k paint job on it.
you'll have a nice car

So I buy the car for 10k. gonna need at least 5k worth of body work and paint to make it like factory. $500 to $700 to have bumpers rechromed. An additional 1k minimum for engine refreshening (who knows whats been done to it in the past). and then an additional 1k in interior (thats being conservative).

10k car
5k body work
500 in chrome
1k engine
1k interior

Grand total of 17k to 18k. Thats alot of dough!

You can buy a red bench seat 4 speed car matching block but not the rest of the motor on ebay right now for 19,500.00 or several other 340 1970 swingers Ive seen restored without the original motor for 13,500 to 18,500.00 . Last all matching purple car I knew about sold for 25,000
fully restored. You can buy some really nice 318 cars that might be more in what you want to spend.

This 1970 FE5 # matching Swinger 340, bench seat, column 727, recently sold for $13,900 in Virginia. Car was restored a few years ago, but was garaged following the restoration. Paint was very good, no rust blisters/bubbles, no rot. Car was factory undercoated. Still had all the original restored pieces under the hood, including a well tuned Carter AVS, factory manifolds, and tips.

Some folks need to read the rules before posting in the for sale section.

LOL, Awesome. I tell people the same thing when they try to talk the price down on my car.

I can't tell you how many times I have said....
"Sounds like you you should start looking for a restored 318 car"
-or-
"If you think you can find a matching number, 340, 4 speed, Formula S for less, go buy that one. Good luck."

Your car, your price. Stick to it.
