Hi, I would like to know if I would have to change my shifter stick on my 1970 swinger 4spd if I add a console to my car. The car is originally a non console model. Is the stick the same in console or non console 4spd models or would I have to add an offset adapter?

Completely different.
Non-console:
Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists
Console:
Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists

I heard the adapters are no longer available, but it wouldn't hurt to call and confirm with Brewer's.

The adapters are not available, but Dan was nice enough to send me some pics of one that he still had. I didnt end up making one, not sure if I saved the pics or not. This is the correct shifter for a console car, which I also got from Brewers.

Not sure what you're referring to....."adapter ". It uses the same shifter mechanism and shifter rods. The only thing that is required is the shifter handle that is hard to find and expensive. Thought brewer's was re popping them ?? Maybe on backorder ? And of course you need the specific console with the correct top plates. You can modify a auto console to work but some prefer the original parts. Might have a spare console that I would part with.

For a while there was an adapter being produced that allowed you to use a non console handle, or pistol grip shifter with a console car. It was linked to above. It relocates the mounting portion of the stick to the center of the console, instead of over the shifter mechanism.

"Adapter" as referred to above by Oldmanmopar. Adapts a standard two bolt stick to work in a console. Formerly made by Gunslinger Products, which was bought out by Brewer's. Not currently available.

And yes, Brewer's has reproduction console handles. That's one of the links I posted earlier, that I labeled "console".

Thanks everyone. I have found what I need from Brewers.

Did not know about that ?? I think they would sell . Only issue is original shifter mechanism was a slide in spade type as opposed to the bolt on style. Still much easier to find and adapt. Just like the song...."can't always get what you want " "but if you try you get what you need"

I bought this to convert mine from a push in style to the bolt on style.

There is the stiffening plate for it as well.

Thanks again for all your replies! Brewer's Performance supplied me with a # SHO55R which is a reproduction of the original A Body console 4spd stick with the offset and return bend as shown in "console" picture from #7 post.

Yes I believe thats the closest to original. I do believe that the Hurst logo is either missing or the font is slightly different as they have a patent on it. "They" meaning Hurst or who ever owns it now. So many things we think are original have been sold or bought up.

I just bought the reproduction console handle from Brewers. No Hurst logo but it is a very nice piece. Also bought the console top plate and rubber boot. Top plate is nice but the console door is warped bad casting won't line up so will have to call them about that. But front console plate 4 spd piece perfect fit.

Here it is mocked up on an extra auto console I had laying around. I will be hacking off the shifter below the console to mod it to hook to a T56 Magnum. Shooting for that factory 4 speed look....
