1971 440 Mopar Engine.
Hello everybody. I have a real nice, running 1971 440 engine for sale. I have been building Mopar engines for many years and I have this C body engine laying around so I decided to open it up and started playing. Here is what I did.
Disassembled and cleaned heads, lap valves, check spring pressure, new seals.
Disassembled and cleaned block, honed cylinders using 240 grit hone.
Hand polished crank journals. Installed new standard main and rod bearings.
Cleaned original 9 to 1 pistons and rods. Installed new cast iron rings.
Installed new Mellings RV spec cam and lifters.
Installed new double roller timing chain.
Installed new oil pump, oil pan, fuel pump and all Felpro gaskets.
I broke the engine in using Driven cam break in lube and Lucas break in oil.
I have many hours with this engine running on my run stand. I have been testing several distributors and carburetors that I have laying around. With the break in oil still in it the oil pressure is above 45 psi all the time and it pulls over 20” of vacuum at idle.
This is not a rebuilt engine but I’ll call it “ freshened up“ because I did not bore it or turn the crank but I have all the measurements showing that the rod bearing clearances are at .0015 and the main clearances are at .002. Pistons are all between .003 and .0035.
This engine would be perfect to drop in that Mopar body that you have laying around or that non running car that you would just like to sell.
This engine is painted in cast iron paint ready for you to paint it what ever color you want.
The engine is still on my run stand so you can hear it run.
This engine does NOT come with carb, distributor, wires pulleys, headers, flywheel or fan. I used these parts on other engines I build so I’m sorry there not for sale at any price.
