1971 Dodge Dart Resto/mod

-
luckily for me my dad has a 727 sitting around. needs a whole rebuild though.... had a buddy tear out the bad extension panel while i was working on my truck and got an air saw today to help chopping this heap up lol. all i need to do is finish up the resto on the dakota and get a hold of a local family friend to see if he has the 8 1/4 ready for me to pick up

Not to odd to find a penny there. A lot of them are like that. Looks ruff but it only takes time, money, and hard work to make them nice again. Sounds like a killer build plan. Good luck with it.

hiya guys, got a job and Dak is just a few bolts from being done, current plan is to rig up some sort of dolly to move this thing around with some casters, so i can roll it in the garage and start cutting, if anybody needs a pristine center trunk floor/spare hole mine's comming out! Im now starting the collecting of parts to get this baby going to the strip. I think i found an 8 3/4 rear end in a 73 Charger that i'm going to try and get, along with the 904, or i have a main housing for an 833... she's gonna get tubbed so i can put some more grip on 'er and i have a 76 or 78 318 that im gonna do a mild rebuild on to run for a while. I'd like to build it up a little and go race the young guns class next year at the Nats. Heres to starting a new moneyhole!!! :cheers:CHEERS!!!:drinkers:(Dr.Pepper)

Should i just rebuild the drums for now?

Rear suspension ideas? (budget!)

Good shocks to use? (crap at advance auto?)

Cage it now?

Help/opinions are gladly welcome!

Wow.... i thought i'd have started this project by now.... only got a new ps fender for it. oh yea, guess what? another plan change! who wants to help a young gun build a FAST class drag car

hey new pics too... sorry for double post

first pic is sunday of mopar nats back at home

second pic is maybe a month ago... has the hood off our 68 Super Stock clone car on it...

rear suspension: relocate, springs, and shocks. if you making a drag car shocks to me are important. get adjustable or maybe even air shocks old technology but changeable! as for my duster i got circle tract leaves high spring rate and lowers the car. the ss springs are cheap and built for the strip so for you those? and the relocation make sure you get it in there perfect so the car tracks strait. id suggest a panhard bar also

with the new aproach of making a FAST class racing car, i cannot do that, it has to apear totally stock

Yay! Going to get a 7 1/4 to get this thing moving lol, should have it tomorrow evening, if it doesn't get too dark i'll take some pics

Yay! Just got the rearend for my car a few hours ago. Brought it home and tore off the shoes and drums to get it functional. Didn't open up the diff but i know that it's a dog-leg and it rolls lol. midway into beating the damned drums off i ended up rupturing a brake line.... thats okay though. I saved the Pinion snubber off it if anyone wants it!

alrighty guys, summer's here and it's time to bust some hardcore @$$ on this babe, the Dak is about done (damn, wasn't i saying that the same time last year?) and this long-neglected Mopar is about to get some lovin'. I have yet again changes plans for this car (I'm a teenager, it happens) and I now want to go a lil bit pro-touring... I have a 5.7 Hemi for her and am looking into either hemi orange or maybe the new new challenger orange or just the new-old challenger hemi orange lol, i'll be doing floors, a new custom firewall and inner fenders, shaving the marker lights, hopefully adding air ride suspension and old challenger door handles too! I'll post up a pixel car rendering here soon

Well guys (and gals) I've got a tiny amount of progress on the Dart last week. I went and removed the upper door trim and what was left of the interior (that wasnt the dash) and took the front shocks off. She'll hopefully be in Primer in the next few weeks (although I am going to Hoosier Boys State next Sunday and then Camping the week after that) or by the first week or two of July.

That being said, here are some pics!

the pic with the black spider.... well that's a black widow

the pic with my arm.... the effects of having the decklid of a Dart slam down on your forearm

Well guys here I am on a beautiful Friday night waiting on my uncle to get home from Indy (driving our new 67 Cuda vert) and over the past week while the Mopar Express has been getting the exhaust on it I spent some time on the Dart. I'm sitting next to it at the moment and I have the doors, decklid, and fenders off, the interior is stripped to the point that all that is left in there is the gas pedal and steering column. The front windshield is out and wiper arms off too. Hopefully over the rest of the summer i can have this car stripped to a rolling shell and blast it and prime the darn car.

I'll do my best to get some pics up later

I knew I read this thread before.I forgot to reply when I did.
