That's what it looks like. I see the rewind, stop/eject buttons.

the guy who painted that car also painted my roadrunner. I can vouch that the body work is top notch. Ive only seen the car when it was a shell, never completed.. if anyone is interested, let me know and Ill go take a good look.

I thought that's what it was but ive never actually seen one in real life...the closest I've come is seeing joe dirt find the skynyrd tape under the port-a-potty in the deleted scene

That's a cassette deck. The opening for the tape would be much larger for an 8-track. 8-track players don't have FWD/REV buttons. I've had several 8-track players over the years. Still do have some.
