Hello,

I have a 1972 340 Demon the steering gear is leaking at the pitman seal and at one of the hoses going into the gear. Has anybody rebuilt one of these, or is it easir to just change it out with a different one. Also the steering has alot of play in it but it looks like it has new tie rods and ball joints. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Personally i would spend the cash and get a rebuilt unit from aftermarket steering supplier .... that have improved the factory boxes internally to prevent lots of slop...and tigher steering gear ratio.. Just my 2 cents.

Usually once a gearbox starts leaking its time to replace it. I bought mine from Firm Feel Inc.

Steering box update. I put two bottles of lucas stop leak in it. hasn't leaked since. Adjusted the play out with the screw on top. Quick fix! how long it will last i dont know.
